The Calgary Stampeders signed fullback Paul-Antoine Ouellette, offensive lineman Christy Nkanu, defensive linemen George Idoko and Jason Janvier-Messier, and defensive backs Jackson Sombach and Kaylyn St-Cyr.
Paul-Antoine Ouellette is six foot four and weighs 235 pounds. A native of Montreal, Quebec, Ouellette was drafted by the Stampeders in the fifth round (42nd pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft. In 2023, he played four games for the Carabins after missing the first half of the season with appendicitis. Ouellette was named to the roster for the 2023 East-West Bowl.
Ouellette played three seasons at the University of Montreal (2021-23) making four catches for 45 yards, and one carry for 15 yards in 18 games for the Carabins.
George Idoko is six foot three and weighs 245 pounds. A native of Calgary, Alberta, Idoko was drafted by the Calgary Stampeders in the third round (28th pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft.
Collegiately, Idoko started at the University of Calgary in 2018 but did not play for the Dinos. Then, he transferred to the University of Saskatchewan (2019, 2021-23) making 43 tackles (34 solo, 22 assists), four tackles for loss, four sacks, one pass breakup, two forced fumbles, and one blocked kick in 40 games for the Huskies.
In 2023, Idolo made 17 tackles (14 solo, 3 assists), and three tackles for loss in nine games. He was named a Canada West All-Star. At St. Francis High School, Idolo was named a two-time Defensive Lineman of the Year.
Jason Janvier-Messier is six foot three and weighs 230 pounds. A native of Beloeil, Quebec, Janvier-Messier was drafted by the Stampeders in the fourth round (33rd pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft.
In 2023, Janvier-Messier missed most of the season with an injury but did play two games for the Lions making four tackles (4 solo), four tackles for loss, two sacks, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one blocked punt. At the combine, Janvier-Messier benched 19, a 4.83 in the 40-yard Dash, a 7.27 in the Cone Drills, and a 4.5 in the Shuttle Drills.
Janvier-Messier has played three seasons at York University (2021-23) with 55 tackles (39 solo, 16 assists), 12.5 tackles for loss, eight sacks, five pass breakups, seven forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one blocked punt in 15 games for the Lions. He was named to the OUA All-Rookie Team in 2021.
Jackson Sombach is five foot nine and weighs 195 pounds. A native of Regina, Saskatchewan, was drafted by the Calgary Stampeders in the seventh round (60th pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft.
In 2023, Sombach made 32 tackles (25 solo, 7 assists), one interception for 21 yards, and four pass breakups in eight games for the Rams. At the combine, Sombach benched 15, a 4.58 in the 40-yard Dash, a 6.97 in the Cone Drills, and a 4.27 in the Shuttle Drills.
Sombach has played five seasons at the University of Regina (2018-23) with 103 tackles (74 solo, 29 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions for 21 yards, 15 pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 27 games for the Rams. He was named a Canada West All-Star in 2022.
Kaylyn St-Cyr is six foot and weighs 198 pounds. The 25-year-old from La Prairie, Quebec, made 18 tackles (12 solo, 6 assists), one interception for 12 yards, and four pass breakups in six games for the Montreal Carabins in 2023. In the 2023 Vanier Cup against UBC, St-Cyr made 2.5 tackles helping Montreal beat UBC.
St-Cyr played three seasons at the University of Montreal (2021-23) making 57 tackles (44 solo, 13 assists), three interceptions for 22 yards, seven pass breakups, one kick return for 10 yards, and two punt returns for 13 yards in 20 games.
