The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed defensive back Eric Smith on Friday.
Eric Smith is five foot ten and weighs 177 pounds. A native of Opa-locka, Florida, Smith made 37 tackles (30 solo, 7 assists), one tackle for loss, one sack, three interceptions, and 11 pass breakups in 13 games for the Florida A&M Rattlers in 2023.
He helped his team top the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and win the Celebration Bowl. In addition, he was named First Team All-SWAC Conference. After the season, Smith played in the HBCU Legacy Bowl.
Smith played four seasons at Florida A&M (2019, 2021-23) with 109 tackles (79 solo, 30 assists), 8 tackles for loss, one sack, four interceptions for 29 yards, 18 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one blocked kick in 37 games for the Rattlers.
