Montreal Alouettes sign RB Tanner Nelmes and OL Matthew Hajewich

The Montreal Alouettes signed running back Tanner Nelmes and offensive lineman Matthew Hajewich on Monday.

Tanner Nelmes is six foot and weighs 215 pounds. A native of Guelph, Ontario, Nelmes played four seasons at Wilfrid Laurier University (2019-23) with 226 carries for 1,266 yards, 9 touchdowns, 27 catches for 284 yards, three touchdowns, two kick returns for 16 yards, and seven tackles (3 solo, 4 assists), two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and two blocked kicks in 35 games for the Golden Hawks.

In 2023, Nelmes had 61 carries for 387 yards, three touchdowns, 10 catches for 121 yards, one touchdown, and three tackles (2 solo, 1 assist) in 10 games. Nelmes was named to the All-Conference Rookie Team and a two-time Academic All-Canadian.

Matthew Hajewich is six foot four and weighs 300 pounds. A native of Regina, Saskatchewan, played two seasons at the University of Regina (2022-23) playing left tackle and left guard in 15 games for the Rams. In 2022, Hajewich was named Academic All-Canadian. Before Regina, Hajewich played four seasons for the Regina Thunder (CJFL).
