Saskatchewan Roughriders sign seven players from the 2024 CFL Draft

The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed wide receivers Dhel Duncan-Busby, D’Sean Mimbs, and Ajou Ajou, defensive lineman Tyrone Taleni, linebackers Nick Wiebe and Melique Straker, and defensive back Richard Aduboffour on Monday.

Dhel Duncan-Busby is six foot three and weighs 210 pounds. The 24-year-old from Madison, Ohio, was drafted by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the third round (23rd pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft.

Collegiately, Duncan-Busby played four seasons at Bemidji State (2019-23) making 171 catches for 2,839 yards, 27 touchdowns, 10 kick returns for 192 yards, 10 carries for 47 yards, and two tackles (2 solo) in 47 games for the Beavers.

In 2023, Duncan-Busby made 49 catches for 825 yards, 11 touchdowns, one kick return for seven yards, and three punt returns for 13 yards in 12 games. He was named First Team All-NSIC in 2022 and Second Team D2CCA All-Super Region 4.

D’Sean Mimbs is six foot one and weighs 180 pounds. A native of Regina, Saskatchewan, Mimbs was drafted by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the sixth round (50th pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft.

Collegiately, Mimbs played three seasons at the University of Regina (2021-23) making 85 catches for 1,205 yards, 8 touchdowns, two carries for seven yards, 14 kick returns for 287 yards, and two tackles (2 solo) in 21 games for the Rams.

In 2023, Mimbs made 30 catches for 460 yards, one touchdown, one carry for two yards, four kick returns for 59 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in six games. He was named the University of Regina’s Male Rookie of the Year in 2021.

Ajou Ajou is six foot three and weighs 218 pounds. The 22-year-old from Brooks, Alberta, was drafted by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the seventh round (59th pick) of the 2024 CFL Draft.

Collegiately, Ajou played two seasons at Clemson (2020-21) making eight catches for 114 yards, and one touchdown in 22 games for the Tigers. Then, he transferred to the University of South Florida in 2023 making two catches for nine yards in one game against BYU before injuries ended his season.

Tyrone Taleni is six foot two and weighs 275 pounds. A native of Savai’i, Western Samoa, Taleni was drafted by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the first round (12th pick) in the 2024 CFL Global Draft.

Collegiately, Taleni played one season at Mt. San Antonio College in 2019 with 26 tackles (15 solo, 11 assists), six tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and one pass breakup in 10 games for the Mounties.

Next, he transferred to Kansas State (2020-21) with five tackles (5 solo), two tackles for loss, and two sacks in 10 games for the Wildcats. Then, he transferred to USC (2022-23) making 36 tackles (16 solo, 20 assists), 8 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in 21 games for the Trojans.

Nick Wiebe is six foot three and weighs 240 pounds. A native of Calgary, Alberta, Wiebe was drafted by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the second round (12th pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft.

Collegiately, Wiebe played two seasons at Oregon (2018-20) with eight tackles (5 solo, 3 assists) in four games for the Ducks. He was named Oregon’s Special Teams Player of the Year in 2020.

Then, Wiebe transferred to the University of Saskatchewan (2021-23) making 201 tackles (124 solo, 77 assists), six tackles for loss, five sacks, one pass breakup, three forced fumbles, and one catch for nine yards in 31 games for the Huskies.

In 2023, Wiebe made 78 tackles (52 solo, 27 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and one forced fumble in nine games. Wiebe was named a Canada West All-Star in 2023.

Melique Straker is five foot ten and weighs 210 pounds. A native of Brampton, Ontario, Straker was drafted by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the fourth round (32nd pick) of the 2024 CFL Draft.

Collegiately, Straker played one season at Carleton University in 2019 with three kick returns for 56 yards, three punt returns for 17 yards, and 7 tackles (6 solo, 1 assist) in seven games for the Ravens. Then, Straker transferred to Arkansas State (2021-23) with 216 tackles (114 solo, 102 assists), 17 tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions for 93 yards, one touchdown, four pass breakups, and two forced fumbles in 33 games for the Red Wolves.

In 2023, Straker made 85 tackles (45 solo, 40 assists), 6.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions for 93 yards, one touchdown, two pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 12 games.

Richard Aduboffour is six foot three and weighs 220 pounds. A native of Toronto, Ontario, Aduboffour was drafted by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the eighth round (68th pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft.

Collegiately, Aduboffour played three seasons at Western University (2021-23) with 51 tackles (28 solo, 21 assists), three interceptions for 20 yards, 15 pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 31 games for the Mustangs.

In 2023, Aduboffour made 23 tackles (12 solo, 11 assists), two interceptions for 20 yards, and nine pass breakups in 11 games. His two interceptions ranked him fifth in the OUA. He was named an OUA All-Star in 2022.
