Ottawa Redblacks place DL Curtis Weaver on the retired list

The Ottawa Redblacks placed defensive lineman Curtis Weaver on the retired list on Wednesday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Curtis Weaver is six foot two and weighs 265 pounds. The 25-year-old from Long Beach, California, Weaver signed with the Birmingham Stallions (UFL) on October 6, 2023, but was released on March 10, 2024. Then, Weaver signed with the Ottawa Redblacks on April 3, 2024.

Before Birmingham, Weaver was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the fifth round (164th pick) of the 2020 NFL Draft. In the same season, the Dolphins traded Weaver to the Cleveland Browns and played one regular season game with one tackle (1 assist). Then, Weaver signed with the Minnesota Vikings as a free agent on January 18, 2023, playing two preseason games with two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist).

Collegiately, Weaver played four seasons at Boise State (2016-19) with 128 tackles (72 solo, 56 assists), 46.5 tackles for loss, 34 sacks, two interceptions for 17 yards, eight pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 41 games for the Broncos. He is a three-time First Team All-Mountain West and First Team All-American in 2019.
