B.C. Lions release four players including defensive back Isaiah Abraham

The B.C. Lions released linebacker Jack Hinsperger, defensive backs Isaiah Abraham and Justin Ford, and defensive tackle Janathian Turner on Saturday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Jack Hinsperger is six foot and weighs 212 pounds. The 25-year-old from Waterloo, Ontario, made four tackles on special teams in six games for the B.C. Lions in 2023. The B.C. Lions drafted Hinsperger in the seventh round (61st pick) of the 2023 CFL Draft.

Collegiately, Hinsperger played three seasons at Waterloo (2018, 2021-22) with 113 tackles (88 solo, 25 assists), 12 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one interception for 17 yards, one pass breakup, one fumble recovery, and one kick return for 18 yards in 20 games for the Warriors. He was named OUA First-Team All-Star in 2022.

Isaiah Abraham is six foot one and weighs 225 pounds. A native of Independence, Oregon, Abraham signed with the B.C. Lions on May 7, 2024.

Collegiately, Abraham played five seasons at Western Oregon (2018-23) making 135 tackles (93 solo, 42 assists), 18 tackles for loss, six sacks, one interception, four pass breakups, five forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one blocked kick in 44 games for the Wolves.

Justin Ford is six foot two and weighs 200 pounds. The 24-year-old from Concord, North Carolina, signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent and later attended rookie minicamp. After the Ravens released him, he signed with the Minnesota Vikings and attended their rookie minicamp.

The Houston Gamblers drafted Ford in the second round (10th pick) of the 2023 USFL Draft. Then, Ford signed with the Calgary Stampeders as a free agent on February 2, 2024.

Collegiately, Ford played two seasons at Golden West College in California (2017-18) with 41 tackles (35 solo, 6 assists), four interceptions, and ten pass breakups in 31 games for the Rustlers.

Next, he went to Kansas before transferring transferred to Louisville in 2019 playing three games with one kick return for 61 yards, and one punt return for 27 yards for the Cardinals.

Then, he transferred to Montana State (2020-22) with 74 tackles (50 solo, 24 assists), 5.5 tackles for loss, one sack, 11 interceptions for 134 yards, two touchdowns, 28 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 23 games for the Grizzlies. He is a two-time FCS All-American, and First Team All-Big Sky at cornerback.

Janathian Turner is six foot three and weighs 304 pounds. The 24-year-old from Atlanta, Georgia, signed with the B.C. Lions on December 7, 2023.

Collegiately, Turner played five seasons at Gardner-Webb University (2018-22) with 195 tackles (74 solo, 121 assists), 22.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, and one pass breakup in 51 games for the Bulldogs. Turner helped the Bulldogs win the Big South Conference championship and was named All-Big South by Phil Steele.
