Hamilton Tiger-Cats sign TE Michael Ezeike, releases WR Terry Godwin II

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed tight end Michael Ezeike and released wide receiver Terry Godwin II and defensive lineman Mo Diallo on Sunday.

The Ticats also added punter Bailey Flint from the suspended list, placed wide receiver Tyler Ternowski on the injured veteran list, offensive lineman Joel Figuroa, and linebacker Nic Cross went on the six-game injured list, and placed wide receiver Cameron Batson on the suspended list.

Michael Ezeike is six foot five and weighs 241 pounds. The 23-year-old from Upland, California, signed with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He played three preseason games targeted one time but did not make the catch.

The Memphis Showboats drafted Ezeike in the fifth round (35th pick) of the 2023 USFL Draft, and later signed with the Showboats on October 10, 2023, but released him on March 4, 2024.

Collegiately, Ezeike played five seasons at UCLA (2018-22) with 35 catches (11.6 AVG) for 407 yards (8.5 AVG), and seven touchdowns in 48 games for the Bruins. In his final season, Ezeike made 20 catches (11.3 AVG), for 226 yards (18.8 AVG), and four touchdowns in 12 games.

Terry Godwin II is five foot eleven and weighs 185 pounds. The 27-year-old from Hogansville, Georgia, signed a one-year contract extension on February 12, 2024.

Godwin II made 68 catches for 864 yards, six touchdowns, and one kick return for 15 yards in 18 games for the Ticats in 2023. The Ticats signed Godwin II as a free agent on September 12, 2022. In 2022, Godwin II made six catches for 107 yards in two games.

Before Hamilton, Godwin II was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the seventh round (237th pick) of the 2019 NFL Draft. He also had stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans. In 2020 with the Jaguars, Godwin II made three catches for 32 yards, one carry for three yards, and two kick returns for 20 yards in three games.

Collegiately, Godwin II played four seasons at Georgia (2015-18) with 133 catches for 1,788 yards, 11 touchdowns, 11 carries for 51 yards, one touchdown, completed 1 of 3 passes (33%) for 44 yards, one touchdown, one interception, two kick returns for 70 yards, one touchdown, and seven punt returns for 70 yards in 54 games for the Bulldogs.

Mo Diallo is six foot five and weighs 305 pounds. The 26-year-old from Toronto, Ontario, made nine tackles and one sack in 12 games for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2023. The Ticats drafted Diallo in the third round (19th pick) in the 2022 CFL Draft. In 2022, Diallo made eight tackles and one sack in 16 games.

Collegiately, Diallo played two seasons at Arizona Western College (2016-17) making 30 tackles (7 solo, 23 assists), five tackles for loss, two sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 23 games for the Matadors. Next, Diallo transferred to Texas A&M in 2018 appearing in one game for the Aggies.

Then, Diallo transferred to Central Michigan (2019-20) making 26 tackles (14 solo, 12 assists), 12 tackles for loss, three sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 11 games for the Chippewas. He was named First Team All-MAC in 2020.

Diallo concluded his collegiate career at Arizona in 2021 making 34 tackles (19 solo, 15 assists), 8.5 tackles for loss, and four sacks in 11 games for the Wildcats.

Bailey Flint is six foot four and weighs 210 pounds. The 27-year-old from Melbourne, Australia, has 53 punts for 2,371 yards (44.7 AVG), with a long of 78 yards, and two tackles (1 DT, 1 ST) in eight games for the Ticats in 2023 before he was placed on the suspended list on August 14, 2023. The Ticats signed Flint on May 4, 2023. He was drafted by the Tiger-Cats in the first round (2nd pick) of the 2022 CFL Global Draft.

Collegiately, Flint played five seasons at Toledo (2017-21) with 209 punts for 8,426 yards (40.3 AVG). His longest punt went for 72 yards, 16 touchbacks, 74 fair catches, 82 from inside the 20-yard line, 33 from 50-plus yards, and one blocked punt in 49 games for the Rockets.

In his final season in Toledo, Flint had 64 punts for 2,578 yards (40.3 AVG), with a long of 68 yards, five touchbacks, 20 fair catches, 23 from inside the 20-yard line, 13 from 50-plus yards, and one punt blocked in 49 games for the Rockets. He was nominated for the Ray Guy Award as the nation’s top punter.
