Edmonton Elks sign DB Marquis Wilson and Kicker Vincent Blanchard

The Edmonton Elks signed defensive back Marquis Wilson and kicker Vincent Blanchard on Monday.

Marquis Wilson is five foot eleven and weighs 185 pounds. The 24-year-old from Windsor, Connecticut, attended the Miami Dolphins rookie minicamp last week.

Collegiately, Wilson played four seasons at Penn State (2019-22) making 57 tackles (34 solo, 28 assists), three tackles for loss, two interceptions for 13 yards, seven pass breakups, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, three catches for 29 yards, and three punts for three yards in 38 games for the Nittany Lions.

Then, Wilson transferred to Purdue in 2023 making 20 tackles (15 solo, 5 assists), six pass breakups, and one punt return for 15 yards in five games for the Boilermakers.

Vincent Blanchard is six foot one and weighs 210 pounds. The 25-year-old from Quebec, Quebec, was drafted by the Edmonton Elks in the fourth round (31st pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft. He participated in the New England Patriots rookie minicamp last week.

Collegiately, Blanchard played three seasons at the University of Laval (2021-23) making 37 of 50 field goals (74%) with a long of 47 yards and made 68 of 68 extra points (100%) in 21 games for the Rouge Et Or.

In 2023, Blanchard made 16 of 17 field goals (94%) with a long of 46 yards and made 20 of 20 extra points (100%) in seven games as he was named Second Team All-Canadian. In 2022, Blanchard made 15 of 19 field goals (79%) with a long of 47 yards and made 20 of 20 extra points helping Laval win the 2022 Vanier Cup.
