The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed defensive linemen Luke Brubacher and Kobe Jones while placing wide receiver Devon Williams on the suspended list on Monday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Luke Brubacher is six foot six and weighs 255 pounds. The 23-year-old from Listowel, Ontario, was drafted by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the second round (16th pick) of the 2024 CFL Draft. Brubacher attended the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints rookie minicamps.
Collegiately, Brubacher played three seasons at Wilfrid Laurier University (2021-23) making 87 tackles (37 solo, 50 assists), 15.5 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, four pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 27 games for the Golden Hawks.
In 2023, Brubacher made 25 tackles (12 solo, 13 assists), 6.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, and two pass breakups in 10 games. He was named Second Team OUA All-Star in 2023.
Kobe Jones is six foot three and weighs 255 pounds. The 26-year-old from Starkville, Mississippi, signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent on May 14, 2021. He also had stints with the Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans, Green Bay Packers, and Carolina Panthers.
Jones appeared in two NFL regular season games with both Green Bay and Carolina. In the 2023 preseason in Carolina, Jones made 8 tackles (1 solo, 7 assists) and one pass breakup in three games.
Collegiately, Jones played four seasons at Mississippi State (2017-20) making 100 tackles (41 solo, 59 assists), 21.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 49 games for the Bulldogs. Jones was a two-time Wuerffel Trophy Candidate in 2019 and 2020.
Devon Williams is six foot five and weighs 211 pounds. The 23-year-old from Lancaster, California, signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He played one preseason game against the Tennessee Titans with one catch for eight yards. Then, Williams signed with the Philadelphia Stars on February 23, 2023, but never played a game for them. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed Williams as a free agent on January 8, 2024.
Collegiately, Williams played two seasons at USC (2018-19) with five catches for 98 yards, one touchdown, and returned a blocked punt for five yards for a touchdown in 13 games for the Trojans. In addition, he caught three passes for 77 yards and a touchdown against Oregon State.
Then, Williams transferred to Oregon (2020-21) with 50 catches for 843 yards and six touchdowns in 18 games for the Ducks. In his final season at Oregon, Williams led the Ducks with 557 receiving yards and four touchdowns on 35 receptions in 14 games.
