Hamilton Tiger-Cats release wide receiver Devon Williams

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats released wide receiver Devon Williams on Tuesday according to the CFL Transactions page one day after placing him on the suspended list.

Devon Williams is six foot five and weighs 211 pounds. The 23-year-old from Lancaster, California, signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He played one preseason game against the Tennessee Titans with one catch for eight yards. Then, Williams signed with the Philadelphia Stars on February 23, 2023, but never played a game for them. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed Williams as a free agent on January 8, 2024.

Collegiately, Williams played two seasons at USC (2018-19) with five catches for 98 yards, one touchdown, and returned a blocked punt for five yards for a touchdown in 13 games for the Trojans. In addition, he caught three passes for 77 yards and a touchdown against Oregon State.

Then, Williams transferred to Oregon (2020-21) with 50 catches for 843 yards and six touchdowns in 18 games for the Ducks. In his final season at Oregon, Williams led the Ducks with 557 receiving yards and four touchdowns on 35 receptions in 14 games.
