The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed defensive lineman Curtis Woodmansey and linebacker Trevor Hoyte on Friday. The Ticats also placed linebacker Enock Makonzo on the six-game injured list and placed linebacker D.Q. Thomas to the suspended list.
Curtis Woodmansey is six foot three and weighs 290 pounds. A native of Toronto, Ontario, Woodmansey went undrafted in the 2024 CFL Draft. He is the younger brother of Ticats offensive lineman Coulter Woodmansey.
Collegiately, Woodmansey played four seasons at the University of Guelph (2019, 2021-23) making 32 tackles (14 solo, 18 assists), three tackles for loss, and two sacks in 29 games for the Gryphons. In 2023, Woodmansey made 13 tackles (8 solo, 5 assists), one tackle for loss, and one sack in 9 games.
Trevor Hoyte is six foot two and weighs 218 pounds. The 25-year-old from Gatineau, Quebec, made one tackle and 17 tackles on special teams in 18 games for the Toronto Argonauts in 2023. The Argonauts drafted Hoyte in the fourth round (33rd pick) of the 2021 CFL Draft. Hoyte played three seasons in Toronto making 35 tackles and 31 tackles on special teams in 49 games.
Collegiately, Hoyte played for the John Abbott College Islanders before transferring to Carleton University (2017-19) making 75 tackles (56 solo, 19 assists), six tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, two interceptions for 34 yards, and three pass blocks in 22 games for the Ravens.
