The Toronto Argonauts released quarterback Hunter Raquet and wide receiver Savon Scarver on Sunday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Hunter Raquet is six foot four and weighs 222 pounds. The 24-year-old from Santa Cruz, California, attended a rookie minicamp with the Denver Broncos in 2023. In addition, he took part in the XFL Combine. Raquet signed with the Toronto Argonauts on April 4, 2024.
Collegiately, Raquet played one season at Monterey Peninsula College in 2017 completing 161 of 278 passes (57.9%) for 2,492 yards, 23 touchdowns, 8 interceptions, 118 carries for 251 yards, five touchdowns, and made one catch for four yards in 11 games for the Lobos.
He was named First Team All-Golden Coast League and won the Most Valuable Player of the American Division Championship. Next, Raquet transferred to Fresno State in 2018 as a redshirt sophomore and did not play any games for the Bulldogs.
Raquet would return to Monterey Peninsula College in 2019 completing 170 of 320 passes (53.1%) for 2,521 yards, 29 touchdowns, four interceptions, 87 carries for 208 yards, 7 touchdowns, and two catches for 26 yards in 10 games for the Lobos leading them to a 10-1 record.
In the 2019 Living Breath Foundation Bowl against Cabrillo College, Raquet completed 16 of 35 passes (45.7%) for 147 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions, and six carries for 25 yards leading the Lobos to a 24-17 win. He would again be named First Team All-Golden Coast Conference.
In 2020, Raquet transferred to Cal Poly completing 17 of 32 passes (53%) for 188 yards, two touchdowns, three carries for 25 yards, and one punt for nine yards in three games for the Mustangs. Next, he transferred to Jacksonville State in 2021 completing one pass for 12 yards in one game for the Gamecocks against Lamar University.
Then, Raquet concluded his collegiate career at Colorado State-Pueblo in 2022 completing 140 of 238 passes (59%) for 2,316 yards, 27 touchdowns, four interceptions, 70 carries for 61 yards, three touchdowns, and one tackle (1 solo) in 11 games for the Thunderwolves.
Savon Scarver is five foot eleven and weighs 175 pounds. The 25-year-old from Las Vegas, Nevada, attended the Chicago Bears training camp in 2022. Then, he signed with the Ottawa Redblacks on September 22, 2022, and was placed on the practice squad.
In the 2023 preseason, Scarver made five catches for 59 yards in two preseason games. In the regular season, Scarver made seven catches for 69 yards in five games for the Ottawa Redblacks.
Collegiately, Scarver played five seasons at Utah State (2017-21) with 55 catches for 757 yards, five touchdowns, ten carries for 39 yards, 107 kick returns for 2,935 yards, seven touchdowns, and four tackles (3 solo, 1 assist) in 56 games for the Aggies. He is a two-time First-Team All-MWC (2018, 2019) and Consensus All-American in 2018.
