Montreal Alouettes releases four players including DB Christian Morgan

The Montreal Alouettes released offensive lineman Matthew Hajewich, defensive linemen Jacorey Johns and Justin Ademilola, and defensive back Christian Morgan on Monday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Matthew Hajewich is six foot four and weighs 300 pounds. The 25-year-old from Regina, Saskatchewan, signed with the Montreal Alouettes on May 6, 2024.

Collegiately, Hajewich played two seasons at the University of Regina (2022-23) playing left tackle and left guard in 15 games for the Rams. In 2022, Hajewich was named Academic All-Canadian. Before Regina, Hajewich played four seasons for the Regina Thunder (CJFL).

Jacorey Johns is six foot four and weighs 256 pounds. The 24-year-old from Cartersville, Georgia, attended the Detroit Lions rookie minicamp in 2023. Then, Johns signed with the New Orleans Breakers on June 7, 2023. In 2023, Johns made two tackles (2 assists) and half a sack in one game for the New Orleans Breakers (USFL) in 2023. The Alouettes signed Johns on January 22, 2024.

Collegiately, Johns played four seasons at Wake Forest (2019-22) with 131 tackles (64 solo, 67 assists), 21.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in 43 games for the Demon Deacons. He helped Wake Forest win the Gasparilla Bowl in 2022.

Justin Ademilola is six foot two and weighs 253 pounds. The 25-year-old from Jackson, New Jersey, attended the Green Bay Packers rookie minicamp in 2023 after going undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft. The Alouettes signed Ademilola on February 5, 2024.

Collegiately, Ademilola played five seasons at Notre Dame (2018-22) making 109 tackles (54 solo, 55 assists), 13 tackles for loss, nine sacks, one forced fumble, and two pass breakups in 50 games for the Fighting Irish.

Christian Morgan is six foot one and weighs 211 pounds. The 24-year-old from Houston, Texas, signed with the Houston Roughnecks on June 19, 2023. However, the Roughnecks were not included in the XFL and USFL merger forming the United Football League (UFL).

Morgan would be drafted by the Arlington Renegades in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft but was released on March 10, 2024. Then, Morgan signed with the Alouettes on May 3, 2024.

Collegiately, Morgan played five seasons at Baylor (2018-22) with 161 tackles (109 tackles, 52 assists), 7.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, seven interceptions, 19 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and two blocked kicks in 55 games for the Bears. He was named Second Team Academic All-Big 12 in 2022.
