The Birmingham Stallions signed punter Colby Wadman and released punter Drue Chrisman on Monday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Colby Wadman is six foot one and weighs 185 pounds. The 29-year-old from Bangor, Maine, punted the ball 10 times for 356 yards (35.6 AVG) with a long of 53 yards, one touchback, and four from inside the 20-yard line in four games for the Birmingham Stallions in 2024. The Stallions released Wadman on May 1, 2024.
The Stallions re-signed Wadman on July 19, 2023, but was released on August 7, 2023, to sign with the Washington Commanders. However, he was released five days later and re-signed with the Stallions on September 26, 2023.
In 2023, Wadman punted the ball 27 times for 1,315 yards with a long of 65 yards, ten from inside the 20-yard line, five touchdowns, and one kickoff for 57 yards in ten games for the Stallions in 2023. He set a USFL record for punting average (48.5%). He was named to the All-USFL Team and won his second USFL Championship in 2023.
The Stallions drafted Wadman in the 33rd round (261st pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft. In his first season, Wadman punted the ball 46 times for 2,073 yards, (45.1%) with a long of 67 yards, 17 from inside the 20-yard line, four touchbacks, and had one punt blocked in ten games.
Before Birmingham, Wadman signed with the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He later spent time with the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers.
In Denver, Wadman played two seasons punting the ball 143 times for 6,369 yards with a long of 65 yards, 11 touchbacks, 51 from inside the 20-yard line, 20 punts out of bounds, and 39 fair catches for 28 games for the Broncos.
Collegiately, Wadman played four seasons at the University of California-Davis (2013-16) punting the ball 244 times for 9,995 yards (41%) with a long of 66 yards, 24 touchbacks, 78 fair catches, 68 from inside the 20-yard line, 49 from 50-plus yards, two blocked punts, and two carries for eight yards in 45 games for the Aggies. He is a three-time All-Big Sky Honorable Mention (2013-14, 2016).
Drue Chrisman is six foot three and weighs 211 pounds. The 26-year-old from Lawrenceburg, Indiana, signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2021.
In 2022, Chrisman punted the ball 28 times for 1,338 yards (47.8 AVG) with a long of 65 yards, two touchbacks, 13 from inside the 20-yard line, and seven fair catches in seven games. Chrisman also had a stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2021 on their practice squad.
Then, Wadman signed with the Birmingham Stallions on April 23, 2024. He punted the ball 10 times for 356 yards (35.6 AVG) with a long of 53 yards, one touchback, and four from inside the 20-yard line in four games for the Stallions.
Collegiately, Chrisman played four seasons at Ohio State (2017-20) punting the ball 185 times for 8,145 yards (44 AVG), with a long of 74 yards, 15 touchbacks, 70 fair catches, 83 from inside the 20-yard line, 55 from 50-plus yards, five kickoffs for 215 yards (43 AVG), and completed one pass for 21 yards in 49 games for the Buckeyes. He was named Third Team All-Big 10 in 2018, and Second Team All-Big 10 in 2020.
