The Montreal Alouettes signed offensive lineman Emil Ekiyor Jr. and transferred defensive back Timarcus Davis to the suspended list on Tuesday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Emil Ekiyor Jr. is six foot two and weighs 315 pounds. The 24-year-old from Indianapolis, Indiana, signed with the Indianapolis Colts as a free agent on May 5, 2023. The Colts released him on August 27, 2023.
Collegiately, Ekiyor Jr. played five seasons at Alabama (2018-22) playing right guard in 50 games, of which 38 were starts for the Crimson Tide. In 2022, Alabama’s offense ranked fourth in scoring offense (41.1 ppg), eleventh total offense (477.1 ypg), nineteenth in passing offense (281.6 ypg), and ranked thirty-sixth in rushing attack (195.5 ypg), and allowed 22 sacks finishing fifth in the SEC. Ekiyor Jr. was named First Team All-SEC in 2022.
Timarcus Davis is six foot and weighs 180 pounds. The 25-year-old from College Station, Texas, signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He played in three preseason games with four tackles (3 solo, 1 assist) and one pass breakup. The Montreal Alouettes signed Davis on December 7, 2023.
Collegiately, Davis played one season at Baylor in 2017 with ten tackles (4 solo, 6 assists), one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 11 games for the Bears.
Then, Davis transferred to Arizona State (2019-22) with 85 tackles (55 solo, 30 assists), half a tackle for loss, three interceptions for two yards, 13 pass breakups, one fumble recovery, and one blocked punt in 36 games for the Sun Devils. In the 2021 Las Vegas Bowl, Davis made nine tackles, half a tackle for loss, and one interception against the Wisconsin Badgers.
