The St. Louis Battlehawks signed defensive back Mike Hampton on Monday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Mike Hampton is six foot one and weighs 190 pounds. The 27-year-old from Tampa, Florida, signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on August 25, 2021, and spent the season on the practice squad. He re-signed with the Blue Bombers on December 31, 2021, but was released on May 29, 2022.
Then, Hampton was drafted by the St. Louis Battlehawks in the 11th round (83rd pick) of the 2023 XFL Draft. In 2023, Hampton made 36 tackles (29 solo, 7 assists), two tackles for loss, six pass breakups, and one forced fumble in nine games, of which one was a start for St. Louis.
Collegiately, Hampton played four seasons at the University of South Florida (2017-20) making 137 tackles (108 solo, 29 assists), four tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions for 15 yards, 30 pass breakups, one fumble recovery, and one kick return for 20 yards in 46 games for the Bulls. Hampton was an All-ACC Honorable Mention in 2018.
