Hamilton Tiger-Cats sign punter Nik Constantinou

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed punter Nik Constantinou and released defensive end Jarrod Hewitt on Monday.

Nik Constantinou is six foot three and weighs 225 pounds. The 24-year-old from Melbourne, Australia, signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent on April 29, 2024. Then, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats drafted Constantinou in the first round (5th pick) of the 2024 CFL Global Draft.

Collegiately, Constantinou played five seasons at Texas A&M (2019-23) punting the ball 191 times for 8,174 yards (42.8 AVG) with a long of 65 yards, six touchbacks, 83 fair catches, 77 from inside the 20-yard line, and 39 from 50-plus yards in 48 games for the Aggies. He was named First Team All-SEC by the AP in 2021 and a Ray Guy Award Semifinalist in 2020.

In 2023, Constantinou punted the ball 41 times for 1,693 yards (41.3 AVG) with a long of 54 yards, one touchback, 17 fair catches, 17 from inside the 20-yard line, and nine from 50-plus yards in 13 games for Texas A&M. He was a 2023 Campbell Trophy Semifinalist.

Jarrod Hewitt is six foot one and weighs 290 pounds. The 26-year-old from Venice, Florida, signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2021 and spent two seasons on the practice squad.

Then, Hewitt signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on June 13, 2023, and was placed on the practice squad. Hewitt played one preseason game in 2024 against the Ottawa Redblacks making one tackle.

Collegiately, Hewitt played four seasons at Virginia Tech (2017-20) with 92 tackles (42 solo, 50 assists), 17.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, two pass breakups, seven quarterback hits, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 45 games, of which 33 were starts for the Hokies. He was named Third Team All-ACC in 2020.
