Montreal Alouettes sign wide receiver Tyrone Howell

The Montreal Alouettes signed wide receiver Tyrone Howell and released defensive back Nigel Warrior on Monday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Tyrone Howell is six foot two and weighs 202 pounds. The 24-year-old from Idabel, Oklahoma, went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Collegiately, Howell played two seasons at Central Oklahoma (2018-19) making 14 catches for 252 yards, three touchdowns, and two kick returns for 37 yards in nine games for Bronchos. He was named First Team All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.

Next, Howell transferred to Kansas State in 2021 making seven catches for 98 yards in 12 games for the Wildcats. Then, Howell transferred to the University of Louisiana-Monroe (2022-23) making 99 catches for 1,442 yards, 13 touchdowns, six punt returns for 12 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 24 games for the Warhawks.

Nigel Warrior is six foot one and weighs 197 pounds. The 26-year-old from College Park, Georgia, made eight tackles (7 solo, 1 assist) in three preseason games for the Baltimore Ravens in 2021. The Ravens signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2020 and spent the season on the practice squad. After Baltimore, Warrior signed with the Seattle Seahawks.

The Montreal Alouettes signed Warrior on January 22, 2024. He did not play in the preseason opener against the Toronto Argonauts last Saturday.

Collegiately, Warrior played four seasons at Tennessee (2016-19) with 239 tackles (142 solo, 97 assists), seven tackles for loss, one sack, five interceptions for 172 yards, one touchdown, 18 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one blocked punt, and three kick returns for 71 yards in 49 games for the Volunteers. He was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2016 and was named Second Team All-SEC by the coaches in 2019.
