B.C. Lions sign defensive lineman Demetrius Taylor

The B.C. Lions signed defensive lineman Demetrius Taylor and released defensive linemen Daniel Joseph and Dominic Quewon on Tuesday.

Demetrius Taylor is six foot one and weighs 295 pounds. The 25-year-old from Miami, Florida, signed with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2022. In the 2022 preseason, Taylor made two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) against the Indianapolis Colts.

Collegiately, Taylor played five seasons at Appalachian State University (2017-21) making 137 tackles (67 solo, 70 assists), 46 tackles for loss, 26.5 sacks, one interception for 19 yards, 10 pass breakups, six forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, three blocked kicks, and one punt return for nine yards in 65 games for the Mountaineers.

Taylor was named a three-time First Team All-Sun Belt Conference. During his time at App State, the Mountaineers went 52-14 with three Sun Belt titles (2017-19), an additional Sun Belt East Division title (2021), and four bowl wins (2017-20).

Daniel Joseph is six foot two and weighs 261 pounds. The 27-year-old from Toronto, Ontario, signed with the B.C. Lions on January 17, 2024. Joseph appeared in one preseason game against the Calgary Stampeders in 2024 but recorded no stats.

Before B.C., Joseph signed with the Buffalo Bills in 2022 with five tackles (3 solo, 2 assists) and one sack in three preseason games. He signed with the Birmingham Stallions on August 24, 2023, but the USFL and XFL merged into the UFL. He was also drafted by the B.C. Lions in the first round (4th pick) of the 2021 CFL Draft.

The Seattle Sea Dragons drafted Joseph in the seventh round (50th pick) in the 2022 XFL Draft. In 2023, Joseph made eight tackles (4 solo, 4 assists), two tackles for loss, two sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 11 games.

Collegiately, Joseph played three seasons at Penn State (2017-19) with 29 tackles (12 solo, 17 assists), 5.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 32 games for the Nittany Lions.

Then, he transferred to N.C. State (2020-21) with 83 tackles (33 solo, 50 assists), 19 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 23 games for the Wolfpack.

Dominic Quewon is six foot three and weighs 254 pounds. The 23-year-old from Minneapolis, Minnesota, went undrafted in 2023 before attending the Chicago Bears rookie minicamp. Then, Quewon signed with the B.C. Lions on November 27, 2023. Quewon appeared in one preseason game against the Calgary Stampeders in 2024 recording no stats.

Collegiately, Quewon played three seasons at Western Community College (2017-19) with 70 tackles (36 solo, 34 assists), 9 tackles for loss, 8 sacks, and 1 forced fumble in 22 games for the Reivers. Then, Quewon transferred to Southern Mississippi (2020-22) with 40 tackles (26 solo, 14 assists), 16 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, 1 interception, 2 pass breakups, and 4 forced fumbles in 27 games for the Golden Eagles.
