The Hamilton Tiger-Cats released 29 players on Saturday including defensive lineman Mason Bennett and added ten players to the practice squad.
Mason Bennett is six foot four and weighs 262 pounds. The 26-year-old from Winnipeg, Manitoba, re-signed with the Ticats on February 7, 2024. Bennett played two preseason games but did not record any stats for the Ticats.
The Ticats drafted Bennett in the first round (8th pick) of the 2020 CFL Draft. In three seasons, Bennett has 44 tackles, five tackles on special teams, and eight sacks in 43 games. In 2023, Bennett made five tackles, one tackle on special teams, and one sack in 14 games.
Collegiately, Bennett played four seasons at North Dakota (2016-19) with 126 tackles (64 solo, 62 assists), 31.5 tackles for loss, 20 sacks, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 42 games for the Fighting Hawks.
