Michigan Panthers sign defensive end Vantrel McMillan

The Michigan Panthers re-signed defensive end Vantrel McMillan on Tuesday according to the Massachusetts Pirates (IFL).

Vantrel McMillan is six foot two and weighs 250 pounds. The 30-year-old from Albany, Georgia, attended the Seattle Seahawks rookie minicamp in 2017. Next, he signed with the Montreal Alouettes in 2018 with three tackles in four games. In 2020, McMillan played for the Houston Roughnecks (XFL) with four tackles in four games before the league ended its season due to COVID-19.

In 2022, McMillan played three games for the Massachusetts Pirates (IFL) with five tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, half a sack, and one pass breakup before signing with Michigan.

The Michigan Panthers signed McMillan as a free agent on May 5, 2022. He made seven tackles (3 solo, 4 assists), one tackle for loss, and one sack in six games in 2022. In 2023, McMillan made eight tackles (6 solo, 2 assists), two tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and one pass breakup in nine games in 2023.

In two seasons with the Michigan Panthers, McMillan has 15 tackles (9 solo, 6 assists), three tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one pass breakup in 15 games. McMillan was drafted by the Panthers in the sixth round of the 2024 UFL Super Draft. However, he was released by the Panthers on March 24, 2024, and signed with the Massachusetts Pirates on May 31, 2024, but did not play for them.

Collegiately, McMillan played five seasons at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga (2012-16) with 115 tackles (72 solo, 43 assists), 26 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, one interception for seven yards, three pass breakups, and five forced fumbles in 34 games for the Mocs. He was named First Team All-SoCon in 2016.
