The Vienna Vikings signed quarterback Shelton Eppler on Wednesday.
Shelton Eppler is six foot one and weighs 205 pounds. The 26-year-old from Navasota, Texas, went undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft. Eppler signed with the Aalborg 89ers (DNL) completing 68% of his passes for 1,723 yards, and 17 touchdowns leading the 89ers to the semifinals where they lost to the Copenhagen Towers.
Then, Eppler signed with the Fundidores de Monterrey (LFA) on March 1, 2022. In 2022, Eppler threw for 1,677 yards and 15 touchdowns leading the Fundidores to their first LFA championship and became the first non-Mexican to win a Tazón México and was named the LFA MVP.
In 2023, Eppler was named the LFA Offensive Player of the Year. In 2024, Eppler completed 193 of 252 passes (77%) for 2,480 yards, 31 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, 22 carries for 86 yards, and two touchdowns.
Collegiately, Eppler played two seasons at Trinity Valley Community College (2016-17) completing 199 of 352 passes (56.5%) for 2,565 yards, 28 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, 69 carries for 132 yards, and four touchdowns in 14 games for the Cardinals.
Then, Eppler transferred to Northwestern State (2018-19) completing 540 of 873 passes (62%) for 6,226 yards, 54 touchdowns, 24 interceptions, 112 carries for 50 yards, and one touchdown in 21 games for the Demons. He was named an All-Southland Conference Honorable Mention in 2018.
