The Edmonton Elks released defensive lineman Joe Jackson on Sunday.

Joseph Jackson is six foot four and weighs 278 pounds. The 27-year-old from Homestead, Florida, was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the fifth round (165th pick) of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Jackson also spent time with the Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, and Kansas City Chiefs playing 20 games for the Browns (15 games) and Cowboys (5 games) making 25 tackles (13 solo, 12 assists), three tackles for loss, four quarterback hits, 1.5 sacks, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery.

Next, Jackson signed with the Birmingham Stallions on March 14, 2023. Jackson made three tackles (3 solo), one tackle for loss, one sack, and one forced fumble against the New Jersey Generals in 2023 playing for the Birmingham Stallions.

Then, Jackson signed with the Edmonton Elks on January 30, 2024. He played in two preseason games making one tackle and one sack. Jackson did not play in Edmonton’s first two regular season games.

Collegiately, Jackson played three seasons at Miami (FL) (2016-18) with 129 tackles (65 solo, 64 assists), 35.5 tackles for loss, 22.5 sacks, one interception for 42 yards, one touchdown, five pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, five forced fumbles, and one touchdown in 35 games for the Hurricanes.
