Edmonton Elks sign WR Frederik Antoine and release FB Bruno Lagace

The Edmonton Elks signed wide receiver Frederik Antoine and released fullback Bruno Lagace on Tuesday.

Frederik Antoine is six foot one and weighs 217 pounds. The 26-year-old from Quebec, Quebec, was drafted by the Montreal Alouettes in the fifth round (47th pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft. Antoine played one preseason game against the Ottawa Redblacks making one catch for seven yards. He was released by the Alouettes on June 1, 2024.

Collegiately, Antoine played two seasons at Old Dominion (2020-21) appearing in one game for the Monarchs recording no stats. Then, he transferred to the University of Laval (2022-23) making 29 catches for 330 yards, and one touchdown in 13 games for the Rouge Et Or. He helped Laval win the 2022 Vanier Cup. In 2023, Antoine made 10 catches for 117 yards and one touchdown in five games.

Bruno Lagace is five foot eleven and weighs 195 pounds. The 25-year-old from Boucherville, Quebec, was drafted by the Edmonton Elks in the seventh round (56th pick) of the 2023 CFL Draft. In 2024, Lagace appeared in the two preseason games for the Elks recording no stats before he was released on June 1, 2024. The Elks re-signed Lagace on June 10, 2024, and placed him on the practice squad.

Collegiately, Lagace played five seasons at the University of Montreal (2018-19, 2021-23) with 90 tackles (60 solo, 30 assists), four tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries, four interceptions, and five pass breakups in 35 games for the Carabins.

Lagace helped the Carabins win the 58th Vanier Cup last weekend over the University of British Columbia 16-9. Lagace is a two-time RSEQ Defensive All-Star and U Sports Second Team All-Star in 2021.
