The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed tight end Camren McDonald and defensive back Kordell Rodgers to the practice squad. To make room, the Ticats released wide receiver Kaylon Geiger and defensive back Mark Milton.
Camren McDonald is six foot four and weighs 245 pounds. The 25-year-old from Long Beach, California, signed with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2023, but was released on August 1, 2023.
Next, McDonald signed with the Los Angeles Rams on August 5, 2023, appearing in three preseason games. McDonald was targeted one time recording no stats. The Rams released him on August 28, 2023. Then, McDonald signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on April 26, 2024. McDonald attended Hamilton’s training camp before he was released on June 1, 2024.
Collegiately, McDonald played five seasons at Florida State (2018-22) making 74 catches for 861 yards, five touchdowns, two yards rushing, and seven tackles (7 solo) in 58 games for the Seminoles. In his senior season, McDonald made 21 catches for 312 yards, and one touchdown in 13 games.
In 2021, McDonald made a career-high 24 catches for 243 yards, two touchdowns, two rushing yards, and three tackles (3 solo) in 12 games. He was named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, winner of the Bill McGrotha Award, a Seminole Scholar, a Wuerffel Trophy nominee, and was on the Mackey Award Watch List.
Kordell Rodgers is five foot eleven and weighs 175 pounds. The 25-year-old from Lufkin, Texas, signed with the Montreal Alouettes on May 10, 2023. In 2023, Rodgers made 37 tackles and two interceptions in 12 games for the Alouettes as Montreal went on to win the 110th Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The Alouettes released Rodgers on May 15, 2024.
Collegiately, Rodgers played six seasons at Texas State (2017-22) with 156 tackles (106 solo, 50 assists), four tackles for loss, one sack, seven interceptions for 154 touchdowns, two interceptions, 25 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 51 games for the Bobcats.
Kaylon Geiger is five foot ten and weighs 180 pounds. The 26-year-old from Fort Worth, Texas, signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He spent the 2022 season on the practice squad. In 2023, Geiger made seven catches for 72 yards in three preseason games before the Buccaneers released him on August 29, 2023.
Then, Geiger signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on December 18, 2023. Geiger played two preseason games making five catches for 36 yards, four kick returns for 118 yards, and three punt returns for 40 yards earning himself a spot on the practice squad.
Collegiately, Geiger played two seasons at Navarro College (2017-18) with 100 catches for 1,451 yards, eight touchdowns, three carries for 18 yards, 20 kick returns for 514 yards, and one touchdown in 21 games for the Bulldogs. He was named Second Team All-Southwest Junior College Football Conference in 2018.
Next, Geiger transferred to Troy (2019-20) with 141 catches for 1,625 yards, eight touchdowns, eight carries for 52 yards, one touchdown, 23 kick returns for 545 yards, and five punt returns for 26 yards in 23 games for the Trojans. He was named First Team All-Sun Belt in 2019.
Then, Geiger transferred to Texas Tech in 2021 with 44 catches for 533 yards, one touchdown, 12 carries for 98 yards, and five kick returns for 95 yards in 13 games for the Red Raiders.
Mark Milton is six foot two and weighs 191 pounds. The 24-year-old from Houston, Texas, signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2023. Milton made 7 tackles (3 solo, 4 assists) in three preseason games for the Panthers earning himself a spot on the practice squad. However, he was released on September 20, 2023.
Milton would later join the Miami Dolphins practice squad before returning to Carolina. The Panthers released him again on November 11, 2023. Next, Milton signed with the Birmingham Stallions on December 6, 2023. After Birmingham released Milton on March 10, 2024, Milton signed with the San Antonio Brahmas (UFL) but was released on March 22, 2024.
Then, Milton signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on May 8, 2024. In a preseason game against the Toronto Argonauts, Milton made one tackle earning himself a spot on the practice squad.
Collegiately, Milton played five seasons at Baylor (2018-22) with 97 tackles (69 solo, 28 assists), 2 tackles for loss, 1 interception for 2 yards, 9 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery in 51 games for the Bears. In addition to football, Milton was a track and field star competing in the 4x100m relay in 2019 finishing fourth place with a time of 39.92 at the conference championships.
