The Calgary Stampeders released quarterback Kyle Vantrease and defensive lineman Toby Ndukwe from the practice squad on Monday.

Kyle Vantrease is six foot two and weighs 225 pounds. The 25-year-old from Akron, Ohio, signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He later spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Calgary Stampeders signed Vantrease on November 9, 2023. He played in two preseason games completing 8 of 11 passes (73%) for 108 yards, and one carry for one yard earning himself a spot on the practice squad.

Collegiately, Vantrease played five seasons at Buffalo (2017-21) completing 387 of 654 passes (59%) for 4,755 yards, 25 touchdowns, 13 interceptions, 76 carries for 195 yards, and 13 touchdowns in 36 games for the Bulls.

Then, Vantrease transferred to Georgia Southern in 2022 completing 371 of 604 passes (61%) for 4,253 passes, 27 touchdowns, 16 interceptions, 33 carries for 34 yards, three touchdowns, and one catch for three yards in 13 games for the Eagles. He was named Third Team All-Sun Belt in 2022.

Toby Ndukwe is six foot one and weighs 236 pounds. The 25-year-old from Richmond, Texas, signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He played three preseason games with five tackles (5 solo) and one sack for the Steelers.

The Calgary Stampeders signed Ndukwe on September 26, 2023, and was placed on the practice squad. He played in one game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers making one tackle and one tackle on special teams. In the 2024 preseason, Ndukwe made one tackle and two tackles on special teams in two games earning himself a spot on the practice squad.

Collegiately, Ndukwe played four seasons at Southern Methodist University (2018-21) with 26 tackles (12 solo, 14 assists), six tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery in 43 games for the Mustangs.

Then, he transferred to Sam Houston State in 2022 with 28 tackles (16 solo, 12 assists), nine tackles for loss, half a sack, one interception for nine yards, and three pass breakups in eight games for the Bearkats.
