The Rhein Fire signed defensive back Marloshawn Franklin Jr. on Wednesday.

Marloshawn Franklin Jr. is six foot and weighs 185 pounds. The 27-year-old from Detroit, Michigan, signed with the B.C. Lions in 2019 and the Montreal Alouettes in 2020.

In 2021, Franklin signed with the Hamburg Sea Devils of the European League of Football. He made 24 tackles (13 solo, 11 assists), one tackle for loss, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles in six games of which five were starts.

Then, Franklin Jr. returned to the CFL signing with the Ottawa Redblacks on May 29, 2022. Then, Franklin Jr. signed with the Edmonton Elks on May 1, 2023. He made 28 tackles and one interception in eight games in the 2023 season.

Marloshawn Franklin Jr. played two preseason games for the Elks in 2024 making eight tackles and two tackles for loss before he was released on June 1, 2024.

Collegiately, Franklin played two seasons at Mesa Community College (2014-15) with 41 tackles (30 solo, 11 assists), one tackle for loss, 12 pass breakups, and one forced fumble in ten games for the Thunderbirds. He was named first-team All-Western States Football League and second-team All-Arizona Community College Athletic Conference.

After Mesa Community College, Franklin transferred to California (2016-17), playing two seasons with 60 tackles (46 solo, 14 assists), two tackles for loss, one sack, and nine pass breakups in 22 games for the Golden Bears.
