The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced on Tuesday they have parted ways with Special Teams Coordinator Paul Boudreau. The Ticats will name a new special teams coordinator in the near future.
“We thank Paul for his contributions and wish him all the best in the future,” said Tiger-Cats head coach and offensive coordinator Scott Milanovich.
This season, the Ticats’ special teams are ranked third in net punting average (37.6), fourth in punt returns average (49.7), and field goals (90%), sixth in kickoff return average (21.9), seventh in opponent kickoff return average (22.9), and eighth in opponent punt return average (13.0).
Boudreau joined the Ticats’ staff on February 2, 2024, after spending seven years with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers winning two Grey Cup Championships. In 2023, Winnipeg finished second in kickoff average (65.9) while Hamilton ranked seventh (62.0), and third in field goal percentage (90.2).
However, Winnipeg was ranked near the bottom of the other categories including seventh in gross punting average (46.2), eighth in net punting (35.2), eighth in average kickoff return yards (20), and sixth in average punt return yardage (11.1).
Before Winnipeg, Boudreau was with the St. Louis Rams and spent 16 years at the collegiate level with Central Connecticut State, Widener, Fitchburg State, Connecticut State, Brown, Cincinnati, and Northeastern.
