The Hamburg Sea Devils signed quarterback D’Angelo Fulford and released quarterback Javarian Smith on Monday.

D’Angelo Fulford is six foot two and weighs 210 pounds. The 26-year-old from Cooper City, Florida, went undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft. On April 26, 2021, Fulford signed with the B.C. Lions but there were no preseason games and he made the practice squad. However, the Lions released him on July 19, 2021.

Next, Fulford signed with the Bay Area Panthers on December 28, 2022, but was released and later signed with the Vegas Vipers (XFL) on April 4, 2023. Fulford never played a game for the Vipers.

On March 7, 2024, Fulford signed with the Tirol Raiders (ELF). In 2024, Fulford completed 23 of 50 passes (46%) for 243 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, and 14 carries for 46 yards before he was released on June 4, 2024.

Collegiately, Fulford played four seasons at Mount Union (2016-19) completing 603 of 896 passes (67%) for 9,482 yards, 134 touchdowns, 13 interceptions, 315 carries for 1,333 yards, 20 touchdowns, four tackles (3 solo, 1 assist), and a half tackle for loss in 45 games for the Purple Raiders.

Fulford was named a three-time OAC Bob Packard Offensive Back of the Year. He was only the second player in history to win the award three times, along with being named three-time First Team All-OAC, and helped the team win the Stagg Bowl in 2019.

Javarian Smith is six foot one and weighs 207 pounds. The 27-year-old from Pontiac, Michigan, completed 84 of 161 passes (52.2%) for 1,055 yards, six touchdowns, two interceptions, 43 carries for 202 yards, and three touchdowns in five games for the Sea Devils in 2024.

Before Hamburg, Smith played for the Prague Black Panthers (Austian Football League) in 2022 throwing for 1,863 yards (7th), 19 touchdowns (7th), and one interception ranking inside the top ten of every passing stat in the AFL.

Then, Smith signed with the Allgäu Comets (GFL) in 2023 completing 262 of 433 passes (60.5%) for 3,494 yards, 44 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, 157 carries for 606 yards, 9 touchdowns, and three tackles (2 solo, 1 assist) in 12 games. Smith led the Comets to a 9-4 record but lost a playoff game against the Braunschweig New Yorker Lions.

Collegiately, Smith played four seasons at Lake Erie College (2016-19) completing 468 of 846 passes (55%) for 5,328 yards, 29 touchdowns, 26 interceptions, 399 carries for 474 yards, 11 touchdowns, 9 catches for 122 yards, punted the ball four times for 91 yards with two of them from inside the 20-yard line, and made four tackles (3 solo, 1 assist) in 42 games for the Storm.
