Calgary Stampeders place RB B.J. Emmons and DB Benjamin Labrosse on the six-game injured list

The Calgary Stampeders placed running back B.J. Emmons (Hamstring) and defensive back Benjamin Labrosse (Ankle) on the six-game injured list on Thursday according to the CFL Transactions page.

B.J. Emmons is five foot eleven and weighs 215 pounds. The 27-year-old from Morganton, North Carolina, has 16 carries for 44 yards and made five catches for 56 yards in four games this season. The Stampeders signed Emmons on December 11, 2023.

Emmons signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2021. Shortly after being released by the Seahawks, Emmons signed with the Las Vegas Raiders. He played three preseason games with 24 carries for 90 yards. He made the practice squad but was released days later. He went on to be part of the Seattle Seahawks and Jacksonville Jaguars practice squads.

Next, the Tampa Bay Bandits (USFL) drafted Emmons in the 27th round (217th pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft. In 2022, Emmons had 97 carries for 242 yards, one touchdown, and 19 catches for 105 yards in nine games for the Tampa Bay Bandits (USFL) in 2022.

After the 2022 season, Emmons signed with the Houston Texans. He appeared in one preseason game but recorded no stats. Next, Emmons signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on October 2, 2022, and dressed for one regular season game. In 2023, he re-signed with the Roughriders but was released on June 4, 2023.

Collegiately, Emmons played one season at Alabama in 2016 with 35 carries for 173 yards, one touchdown, two catches for 20 yards, and one kick return for 26 yards in seven games for the Crimson Tide. Then, he transferred to Hutchinson Community College in 2017 with 150 carries for 694 yards, ten touchdowns, and five catches for 25 yards in 12 games for the Blue Dragons.

After Hutchinson, he transferred to Florida Atlantic (2019-20) with 88 carries for 353 yards, seven touchdowns, and six catches for 25 yards in nine games. In his final season, Emmons had 37 carries for 116 yards, one touchdown, and three catches for 14 yards in four games.

Benjamin Labrosse is six foot and weighs 189 pounds. The 24-year-old from Greenfield Park, Quebec, was drafted by the Stampeders in the first round (4th pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft. Before the CFL Draft, Labrosse attended the New York Giants rookie minicamp.

The Stampeders officially signed Labrosse on May 13, 2024. Labrosse played one preseason game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers making one tackle and one interception earning a spot on the practice squad. He has not played in any regular season games for Calgary.

Collegiately, Labrosse played two seasons at Syracuse (2020-21) making 14 tackles (11 solo, 3 assists), and one tackle for loss in 10 games for the Orange.

Then, Labrosse transferred to McGill University in 2022 making 35 tackles (29 solo, 6 assists), three interceptions for 74 yards, one pass breakup, one carry for 14 yards, six kick returns for 121 yards (20.2 AVG), and four punt returns for 79 yards (19.8 AVG) in eight games for the Redbirds. Labrosse was named First Team All-Canadian after the season. He did not play in 2023 due to academic issues.

At the 2024 CFL Combine, Labrosse made 12 bench presses and ran a 4.51 in the 40-yard dash, 38.5 inches in the vertical jump, 6.76 in the 3-cone drill, and 4.21 in the shuttle drill.
