The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed defensive back Demetries Ford to the practice squad on Sunday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Demetries Ford is five foot nine and weighs 180 pounds. The 23-year-old from South Miami, Florida, went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft. Next, he signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on May 1, 2024. Ford played one preseason game against the Calgary Stampeders in 2024 making five tackles and one tackle on special teams. The Blue Bombers released Ford on June 2, 2024.
Collegiately, Ford played one season at Youngstown State in 2019 with 24 tackles (18 solo, 6 assists), half a tackle for loss, one interception for 25 yards, and six pass breakups in 12 games for the Penguins.
Next, Ford transferred to Austin Peay University (2021-22) with 61 tackles (38 solo, 23 assists), one tackle for loss, one sack, three interceptions for 49 yards, 23 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 22 games for the Governors. In 2022, he was named Third Team All-American by both Phil Steele and Associated Press, and All-ASUN Conference.
Then, Ford transferred to Arizona State in 2023 with 31 tackles (25 solo, 6 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, five pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 12 games for the Sun Devils.
