Colton Herta ends a 41-race winless streak on Sunday in Toronto.

The NTT IndyCar Series concluded the weekend on the streets of Toronto, Canada, in the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto. This was the last IndyCar race as they go on a three-week break because of the Olympics.

Andretti Global driver Colton Herta started the race on the pole with his teammate Kyle Kirkwood starting second. The race got off to a rocky start with two cautions in the first five laps. On lap 1, Santino Ferrucci, Christian Rasmussen, and Marcus Ericsson made contact at Turn 1.

Ferrucci and Ericsson were able to continue the race while Rasmussen was the first car out. Then, on lap five, Augustin Canapino made contact with Scott Dixon and hit the wall at Turn 4. There were six cautions throughout the race.

The big one happened on 73 when six cars were involved at Turn 2. It started when Pato O’Ward got loose and spun sideways before getting hit by both Marcus Ericsson and Kyffin Simpson. Santino Ferrucci hit Simpson sending his car up in the air, hitting the fence, and flipping upside down. The other drivers who were involved in the crash were Nolan Siegel and Pietro Fittipaldi. All drivers were treated and released from the care center.

Colton Herta led the opening 34 laps before making his first pit stop and Scott Dixon took the lead. Dixon led two laps before Herta got the lead back on lap 37. He led up until lap 53 before Scott Dixon and Marcus Ericsson each led a lap and Herta took the lead back on lap 56.

Herta led the last 29 laps to end a 41-race winless streak beating his teammate Kyle Kirkwood by 0.3469 seconds. The rest of the top five finishers were Scott Dixon third, Alex Palou fourth, and Marcus Armstrong fifth. With a third-place finish, Scott Dixon is now tied with Mario Andretti (141) for the most podium finishes of all time. The two biggest movers in this race were Alex Palou, who started 18th and finished fourth, and Rinus VeeKay, who started 22nd and finished in eighth place. There were 140 passes, with 117 of them for positions.

The NTT IndyCar Series will have three weeks off before their next race from World Wide Technology Raceway in the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 on Saturday, August 17th, at 6 pm on USA Network.
