Montreal Alouettes place QB Cody Fajardo and WR Kaion Julien-Grant on 6-game injured reserve

The Montreal Alouettes announced on Wednesday that quarterback Cody Fajardo (Hamstring) and wide receiver Kaion Julien-Grant (Shoulder) have been placed on the six-game injured reserve list.

Cody Fajardo is six foot two and weighs 223 pounds. The 32-year-old from Brea, California, completed 141 of 182 passes (77.4%) for 1,636 yards, 10 touchdowns, 4 interceptions, 24 carries for 142 yards, and one touchdown in six games for the Alouettes in 2024. Fajardo hurt his hamstring two weeks ago against the Toronto Argonauts.

Before Montreal, Fajardo signed with the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2015. After the Raiders released him, Fajardo signed with the Toronto Argonauts.

He played two seasons in Toronto completing 29 of 48 passes (60.4%) for 261 yards, 4 touchdowns, 80 carries for 329 yards, and 8 touchdowns in 26 games. He won his first Grey Cup title in 2017 as a backup to Ricky Ray.

Next, Fajardo signed with the B.C. Lions in 2018. He completed 14 of 20 passes (70%) for 153 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception, 42 carries for 108 yards, and 5 touchdowns in 18 games.

Then, Fajardo signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2019. He completed 901 of 1,278 passes (71%) for 10,632 yards, 48 touchdowns, 32 interceptions, 266 carries for 1,436 yards, and 22 touchdowns in 48 games. He was named a CFL All-Star and CFL West All-Star in 2019.

The Montreal Alouettes signed Fajardo as a free agent on February 14, 2023. In 2023, Fajardo completed 317 of 444 passes (71.4%) for 3,847 yards, 14 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, 57 carries for 341 yards, and 3 touchdowns in 18 games leading the Alouettes to win their first Grey Cup title in 13 yards over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 28-24.

Collegiately, Fajardo played four seasons at Nevada (2011-14) completing 878 of 1,348 passes (65.1 %) for 9,659 yards, 57 touchdowns, 29 interceptions, 636 carries for 3,482 yards, and 44 games in 45 games for the Wolf Pack. He was named WAC Freshman of the Year in 2011.

Kaion Julien-Grant is six foot two and weighs 212 pounds. The 28-year-old from Toronto, Ontario, made 26 catches for 288 yards, and one touchdown in six games for the Alouettes in 2024.

The Montreal Alouettes drafted Julien-Grant in the second round (13th pick) in the 2019 CFL Draft. In five seasons in Montreal, Julien-Grant has made 108 catches for 1,458 yards, four touchdowns, and one carry for seven yards in 55 games. In 2023, Julien-Grant made 37 catches for 512 yards, and one carry for seven yards in 9 games helping the Alouettes win the 110th Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Collegiately, Julien-Grant played four seasons at St. Francis Xavier University (2015-18) making 118 catches for 2,032 yards, 22 touchdowns, 12 carries for 73 yards, and 31 kick returns for 672 yards, and two touchdowns in 31 games for the X-Men.

In his senior year, Julien-Grant made 49 catches for 638 yards, five touchdowns, three carries for 25 yards, eight kick returns for 209 yards, and one touchdown in eight games.
