Saskatchewan Roughriders place WR Kian Schaffer-Baker on the 6-game injured reserve

The Saskatchewan Roughriders placed wide receiver Kian Schaffer-Baker (Shoulder) on the six-game injured reserve list on Wednesday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Kian Schaffer-Baker is six foot four and weighs 205 pounds. The 26-year-old from Mississauga, Ontario, was drafted by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the fourth round (30th pick) of the 2020 CFL Draft.

In his rookie season, Schaffer-Baker caught 47 passes for 563 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games. In 2022, Schaffer-Baker made 68 catches for 960 yards, five touchdowns, and 13 carries for 74 yards in 18 games.

He was the Roughriders’ nominee for Most Outstanding Canadian in 2022 and Most Outstanding Rookie in 2021. Last season, Schaffer-Baker made 38 catches for 430 yards, three touchdowns, and two carries for six yards in nine games.

This season, Schaffer-Baker made 25 catches for 352 yards, and two touchdowns in six games. Schaffer-Baker suffered a shoulder injury last week against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Collegiately, Schaffer-Baker played four seasons at the University of Guelph (2016-19) making 95 catches for 1,544 yards, and eight touchdowns in 28 games for the Gryphons. In the 2019 East-West Bowl, he led all receivers with five catches for 126 yards and one touchdown.
