The Saskatchewan Roughriders placed defensive lineman Anthony Lanier II (Knee) on the six-game injured reserve list on Friday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Anthony Lanier II is six foot six and weighs 285 pounds. The 31-year-old from Savannah, Georgia, made nine tackles, two sacks, and one forced fumble in seven games this season.
Lanier II signed with the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent in 2016. He played four seasons in the NFL with the Washington Redskins and Los Angeles Chargers. He played 15 games in Washington with 15.5 tackles, five sacks, six pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries. In addition, Lanier spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Lanier II as a free agent on March 2, 2021. In four seasons in Saskatchewan, Lanier has 60 tackles, 16 sacks, and three forced fumbles in 39 games.
Collegiately, Lanier II played four seasons at Alabama A&M (2012-15) with 150 tackles, seven sacks, eight pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 41 games for the Bulldogs. In his senior season, Lanier made 29 tackles, 2.5 sacks, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble in eight games.
