Montreal Alouettes lose quarterback Caleb Evans for the rest of the 2024 season

The Montreal Alouettes announced on Tuesday that backup quarterback Caleb Evans will miss the rest of the 2024 season with a right knee injury suffered against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last week.

Caleb Evans is six foot two and weighs 210 pounds. The 26-year-old from Mansfield, Texas, completed one pass for 39 yards, one touchdown, three carries for 10 yards, and one touchdown in the Alouettes 33-16 win over the Ticats last Friday. Evans finishes the 2024 season completing 26 of 45 passes (58%) for 307 yards, four touchdowns, two interceptions, 24 carries for 55 yards, and four touchdowns in eight games.

Evans went undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft. He signed with the Ottawa Redblacks on December 14, 2020. In 2021, Evans completed 108 of 182 passes (59.3%) for 1,279 yards, 5 touchdowns, 9 interceptions, 42 carries for 345 yards, and three touchdowns in eight games.

The following season, Evans completed 114 of 185 passes (62%) for 1,301 yards, 4 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, 88 carries for 354 yards, and 16 touchdowns in 18 games. Then, Evans signed with the Montreal Alouettes on February 14, 2023.

In 2023, he completed 43 of 67 passes (64.1%) for 573 yards, 3 touchdowns, 4 interceptions, 49 carries for 189 yards, and 8 touchdowns in 18 games helping the Alouettes win the 110th Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Collegiately, Evans played four seasons at the University of Louisiana at Monroe (2016-19) completing 757 of 1,252 passes (60.5%) for 9,513 yards, 58 touchdowns, 34 interceptions, 468 carries for 2,168 yards, 36 yards, and 5 tackles (2 solo, 3 assists) in 43 games for the Warhawks.
