The St. Louis Battlehawks signed wide receiver Jelani Baker on Friday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Jelani Baker is six foot and weighs 187 pounds. The 23-year-old from Snellville, Georgia, signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent on May 3, 2024, but was released on May 6, 2024. The St. Louis Battlehawks drafted Baker in the seventh round (53rd pick) of the 2024 UFL College Draft. He became the first athlete to be drafted into a professional football league.
Collegiately, Baker played three seasons at West Georgia (2019-21) making four catches for 41 yards, and two tackles (2 solo) in 12 games for the Wolves. Then, Baker transferred to Limestone University (2022-23) making 118 catches for 1,681 yards, 19 touchdowns, 23 kick returns for 656 yards, one touchdown, five punt returns for 15 yards, one tackle (1 assist), and one pass breakup in 24 games for the Saints.
In 2023, Baker made 75 catches for 1,089 yards, 14 touchdowns, 17 kick returns for 362 yards, and five punt returns for 15 yards in 12 games. He was named to the D2 Football Elite 100 Squad Team.
