Winnipeg Blue Bombers release WR Ravi Alston and LS Ian Leroux

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers released wide receiver Ravi Alston and long snapper Ian Leroux on Tuesday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Ravi Alston is six foot three and weighs 203 pounds. The 25-year-old from Lake Elsinore, California, signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on September 6, 2023, and was placed on the practice squad. The Blue Bombers released Alston on May 15, 2024. Alston re-signed with the Blue Bombers on June 24, 2024, and was placed on the practice squad.

Collegiately, Alston played two seasons at St. John’s University in Minnesota (2019-21) making 153 catches for 2,350 yards, 22 yards, and four punt returns for seven yards in 25 games for the Johnnies. He was named First Team All-MIAC in 2019.

Then, Alston transferred to Montana State in 2022 making 27 catches for 398 yards, and one touchdown in 14 games for the Bobcats, which was second-best on the team.

Ian Leroux is six foot two and weighs 220 pounds. The 25-year-old from Quebec, Quebec, Leroux was drafted by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the fourth round (37th pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft. He was placed on the suspended list as he is returning to Laval.

Collegiately, Leroux will return to the University of Laval in 2024. He’s played four seasons at the University of Laval (2019, 2021-23) making 17 tackles (11 solo, 6 assists), one fumble recovery, and one interception for 34 yards in 29 games for the Rouge Et Or.
