The Saskatchewan Roughriders released linebacker Zakoby McClain on Thursday.
Zakoby McClain is six foot and weighs 219 pounds. The 24-year-old from Valdosta, Georgia, signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent on May 6, 2022. He made 10 tackles (5 solo, 5 assists) in three preseason games.
Next, McClain signed with the New Orleans Breakers (USFL) on January 7, 2023. He appeared in two games recording no stats. Then, McClain signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on January 20, 2024. McClain made three tackles and one interception in two preseason games for the Roughriders. In the regular season, McClain made one tackle and one tackle on special teams in three games.
Collegiately, McClain played four seasons at Auburn (2018-21) with 267 tackles (147 solo, 120 assists), 19 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, one interception for 100 yards, one touchdown, nine pass breakups, and four forced fumbles in 49 games for Tigers. He was named Second Team All-SEC in 2021.
