Michigan Panthers re-sign defensive end Ron’Dell Carter

The Michigan Panthers re-signed defensive end Ron’Dell Carter on Friday according to the UFL Transactions page.

Ron’Dell Carter is six foot three and weighs 269 pounds. The 27-year-old from Baltimore, Maryland, signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent on April 27, 2020. He also had stints with the Indianapolis Colts, Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans, Pittsburgh Steelers, and New England Patriots. He played four NFL games making one tackle (1 solo).

Then, the Michigan Panthers signed Carter on March 22, 2023. In 2023, Carter made four tackles (3 solo, 1 assist), two tackles for loss, and one sack in five games. In 2024, Carter made 20 tackles (12 solo, 8 assists), four tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in 10 games. In the 2024 USFL Conference Championship Game against the Birmingham Stallions, Carter made one tackle (1 solo), one tackle for loss, one sack, and one fumble recovery.

Collegiately, Carter played one season at Rutgers in 2016 making two tackles (2 assists) and half a tackle for loss in five games for the Scarlet Knights. Then, he transferred to James Madison (2017-19) making 152 tackles (69 solo, 83 assists), 48 tackles for loss, 23.5 sacks, four pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 44 games for the Dukes.

He was named a two-time First Team All-CAA, two-time All-ECAC, and won the CAA and ECAC Defensive Player of the Year. He finished his career ranked ninth in all-time sacks (23.5).
