The Minnesota Vikings signed Birmingham Stallions quarterback Matt Corral on Friday. The Stallions will retain Corral’s rights should he return to the UFL.
Matt Corral is six foot two and weighs 205 pounds. The 25-year-old from Ventura, California, completed 28 of 47 passes (59.6%) for 249 yards, one interception, and four carries for 47 yards in three preseason games for the Carolina Panthers in 2023.
The Carolina Panthers drafted Corral in the third round (94th pick) of the 2022 NFL Draft. After Carolina, Corral was acquired on waivers by the New England Patriots. The Patriots released Corral on September 18, 2023.
The Birmingham Stallions signed Corral on February 13, 2024. In 2024, Corral completed 36 of 62 passes (58.1%) for 494 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions, and 15 carries for 92 yards.
In the 2024 UFL Playoffs, Corral completed 9 of 11 passes (81.8%) for 120 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, and one carry for two years helping the Stallions win their third consecutive championship (2 USFL, 1 UFL).
Collegiately, Corral played four seasons at Ole Miss (2018-21) completing 614 of 912 passes (67%) for 8,287 yards, 57 touchdowns, 23 interceptions, 334 carries for 1,338 yards, 18 touchdowns, and one catch for 19 yards in 37 games for the Rebels. In 2021, Corral won the Conerly Trophy, was named the Outback Bowl MVP, and was named Second Team All-SEC.
