The NTT IndyCar Series held qualifying on Friday afternoon from World Wide Technology Raceway in St. Louis, Missouri, to set the field for Saturday night’s Bommarito Automotive Group 500. Scott Dixon, Alex Palou, and Felix Rosenqvist were all issued a nine-grid starting penalty for unapproved engine changes.
Team Penske driver Scott McLaughlin won his second straight pole in St. Louis with a lap time of 50.0079 seconds at 179.972 mph. It’s his third pole of the season and ninth of his career.
Next to him on the front row is Meyer Shank Racing driver Felix Rosenqvist with a lap time of 50.0568 seconds at 179.796 mph. Due to the penalty, Rosenqvist will drop to 11th and David Malukas will start the race in second place. Dixon qualified 10th but will start 19th, and Alex Palou qualified seventh but will start 16th.
