The Houston Roughnecks re-signed running back T.J. Pledger IV and defensive tackle Glen Logan and signed tight end Cary Angeline, offensive lineman Sean Brown, and Saige Young on Tuesday according to the UFL Transactions page.
T.J. Pledger IV is five foot eight and weighs 196 pounds. The 24-year-old from Pacoima, California, signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent on May 16, 2022.
He was released on August 23, 2023. Then, Pledger IV signed with the Houston Gamblers on December 21, 2023. In 2023, Pledger IV had 49 carries for 197 yards, three touchdowns, and 7 catches for 58 yards in four games. In 2024, Pledger IV had 77 carries for 252 yards and 16 catches for 96 yards in 9 games.
Collegiately, Pledger IV played three seasons at Oklahoma (2018-20) with 135 carries for 695 yards, 6 touchdowns, 11 catches for 89 yards, and 12 kick returns for 180 yards in 30 games for the Sooners. He was named an Academic All-Big 12 Second Team honoree in 2020.
Then, Pledger IV transferred to Utah in 2021 with 104 carries for 694 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 10 catches for 107 yards in 14 games for the Utes.
Cary Angeline is six foot seven and weighs 250 pounds. The 26-year-old from Chester Spring, Pennsylvania, signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent on May 14, 2021. He was released on August 11, 2021. Next, Angeline signed with the Philadelphia Eagles on August 22, 2021, but was released on August 29, 2021.
The Birmingham Stallions drafted Angeline in the 34th round (267th pick) of the 2022 USFL Draft. In 2022, Angeline made 9 catches for 152 yards, and one touchdown in 6 games helping the Stallions win the USFL Championship over the Philadelphia Stars. The Stallions released him on April 10, 2023. Angeline signed with the San Antonio Brahmas (XFL) on October 23, 2023. However, he was not part of the roster after the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft.
Collegiately, Angeline started at USC (2016-17) but did not play a game for the Trojans. Then, Angeline transferred to N.C. State (2018-20) making 61 catches for 960 yards, and 12 touchdowns in 35 games for the Wolfpack.
Sean Brown is six foot three and weighs 320 pounds. The 31-year-old from Uniondale, New York, signed with the Albany Firebirds (AFL) on April 1, 2024. He played eight games making two tackles helping the Firebirds to a 7-2 record appearing in ArenaBowl XXXIII against the Billings Outlaws.
Brown was a member of the XFL Team 9 in 2020, a practice squad that supplemented players to all XFL teams in case of injury throughout the season. In 2019, Brown played for the Salt Lake Stallions (AAF), and the Philadelphia Soul (AFL). In 2021, he was with the Generals (TSL).
The Philadelphia Stars drafted Brown in the 20th round (156th pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft. In 2022, Brown played nine games for the Stars helping them reach the USFL Championship Game against the Birmingham Stallions. Philadelphia’s offense ranked sixth in passing (184 yards per game), fifth in rushing (103.4 yards per game), and 31 touchdowns.
In 2023, Brown played four games. Philadelphia’s offense ranked third in passing (213.3 yards per game), finished last in rushing (77 yards per game), 20 touchdowns, and allowed a league-high 29 sacks in 2023.
After the season, Brown signed with the Pittsburgh Maulers (USFL). However, the Maulers were not included in the USFL and XFL merger that formed the United Football League. Brown became a free agent after not getting drafted in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft.
Collegiately, Brown played two seasons at Nassau Community College (2012-13) for the Lions. Then, he transferred to Mississippi Valley State and played two seasons (2014-15) at Mississippi Valley State in 22 games for the Delta Devils.
Saige Young is six foot four and weighs 305 pounds. The 28-year-old from Versailles, Kentucky, played for the Sea Lions in 2021. The New Jersey Generals (USFL) signed Young as a free agent on December 2, 2022. In 2023, Young played 7 games, of which three were starts.
In addition, he also spent time with the Frisco Fighters and the Fan Controlled Football League. In 2024, he played for the Nashville Kats of the Arena Football League.
Collegiately, Young played one season at Dodge City Community College in 2016 playing 11 games for the Conquistadors, and was named an All-Conference Honorable Mention. Then, he transferred to Vanderbilt (2017-19) playing 19 games for the Commodores. In 2018, Vanderbilt’s offense helped Ke’Shawn Vaughn rush for 1,000 yards and produce the second-highest rushing total (1,244 yards) in team history.
Glen Logan is six foot three and weighs 298 pounds. The 26-year-old from Kenner, Louisiana, signed with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2022. The Browns released him on August 29, 2022.
The Arlington Renegades drafted Logan in the ninth round (72nd pick) in Phase 6 of the 2023 XFL Draft. The Renegades traded Logan to the Houston Roughnecks in January 2023. Logan was drafted by the Houston Roughnecks (formerly Gamblers) in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft. In 2024, Logan made 11 tackles (3 solo, 8 assists) and one fumble recovery in 10 games.
Collegiately, Logan played five seasons at LSU (2017-21) making 110 tackles (24 solo, 86 assists), 10 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, and three pass breakups in 51 games for the Tigers.
