The Houston Roughnecks are signing offensive lineman Sean Brown on Tuesday according to Pro Football Newsroom’s James Larsen.
Sean Brown is six foot three and weighs 320 pounds. The 31-year-old from Uniondale, New York, signed with the Albany Firebirds (AFL) on April 1, 2024. He played eight games making two tackles helping the Firebirds to a 7-2 record appearing in ArenaBowl XXXIII against the Billings Outlaws.
Brown was a member of the XFL Team 9 in 2020, a practice squad that supplemented players to all XFL teams in case of injury throughout the season. In 2019, Brown played for the Salt Lake Stallions (AAF), and the Philadelphia Soul (AFL). In 2021, he was with the Generals (TSL).
The Philadelphia Stars drafted Brown in the 20th round (156th pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft. In 2022, Brown played nine games for the Stars helping them reach the USFL Championship Game against the Birmingham Stallions. Philadelphia’s offense ranked sixth in passing (184 yards per game), fifth in rushing (103.4 yards per game), and 31 touchdowns.
In 2023, Brown played four games. Philadelphia’s offense ranked third in passing (213.3 yards per game), finished last in rushing (77 yards per game), 20 touchdowns, and allowed a league-high 29 sacks in 2023.
After the season, Brown signed with the Pittsburgh Maulers (USFL). However, the Maulers were not included in the USFL and XFL merger that formed the United Football League. Brown became a free agent after not getting drafted in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft.
Collegiately, Brown played two seasons at Nassau Community College (2012-13) for the Lions. Then, he transferred to Mississippi Valley State and played two seasons (2014-15) at Mississippi Valley State in 22 games for the Delta Devils.
