The NTT IndyCar Series held qualifying on Saturday afternoon from Portland International Raceway to set the field for Sunday’s BitNile.com Grand Prix of Portland.

A.J. Foyt Racing driver Santino Ferrucci won his first career pole with a lap time of 58.2046 seconds at 121.475 mph. It’s the first pole for A.J. Foyt Racing in ten years since Takuma Sato at Belle Isle in 2014. Team Penske driver Will Power qualified second with a lap time of 58.3120 seconds at 121.251 mph.

Three drivers were issued a six-position starting grid penalty for unapproved engine changes. Graham Rahal qualified 6th but will start 12th, Kyle Kirkwood qualified 5th and will start 11th, and David Malukas qualified 19th but will start 25th.
