The San Antonio Brahmas signed defensive lineman Toby Ndukwe and re-signed running back John Lovett, defensive linemen Jacob Sykes and Taron Vincent, and linebackers Jordan Williams and Zach McCloud on Monday according to the UFL Transactions page.
John Lovett is five foot eleven and weighs 215 pounds. The 24-year-old from Burlington City, New Jersey, was drafted by the San Antonio Brahmas in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft. In 2024, Lovett had 103 carries for 422 yards, 5 touchdowns, 17 catches for 56 yards, and one touchdown in 8 games. In the 2024, UFL playoffs, Lovett had 19 carries for 83 yards in two games leading the Brahmas to the UFL Championship Game against the Birmingham Stallions.
Lovett signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and spent most of the season on the practice squad. The Vegas Vipers drafted Lovett in the second round (12th pick) of the 2023 XFL Draft.
In 2023, Lovett had 59 carries for 227 yards, three touchdowns, 14 catches for 269 yards, and two touchdowns in ten games for the Vegas Vipers (XFL) in 2023. After the season, he signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers but did not play in the preseason.
Collegiately, Lovett played four seasons at Baylor (2017-20) with 355 carries for 1,803 yards, 17 touchdowns, 29 catches for 183 yards, one touchdown, 15 kick returns for 283 yards, and four tackles (3 solo, 1 assist) in 42 games for the Bears.
Then, Lovett transferred to Penn State in 2021 with 52 carries for 177 yards, nine catches for 36 yards, and four kick returns for 63 yards in nine games for the Nittany Lions.
Jacob Sykes is six foot three and weighs 282 pounds. The 25-year-old from Kansas City, Missouri, signed with the San Antonio Brahmas on February 7, 2024. In 2024, Sykes made 11 tackles (4 solo, 7 assists), 2 tackles for loss, and one sack in 7 games. In the 2024 UFL playoffs, Sykes made 2 tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) and one tackle for loss.
The Seattle Seahawks signed Sykes as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He made six tackles (4 solo, 2 assists), one pass breakup, and one quarterback hit in three preseason games.
Collegiately, Sykes played four seasons at Harvard (2018-21) with 69 tackles (25 solo, 44 assists), 14.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and two blocked punts in 28 games for the Crimson. He was named First Team All-Ivy League.
Then, Sykes transferred to UCLA in 2022 with 29 tackles (14 solo, 15 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, and one sack in 13 games for the Bruins.
Taron Vincent is six foot one and weighs 304 pounds. The 24-year-old from Baltimore, Maryland, was drafted by the San Antonio Brahmas in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft. He made 14 tackles (8 solo, 6 assists), two tackles for loss, and one sack in seven games before being placed on injured reserve and missed the rest of the season.
Vincent attended the Buffalo Bills rookie minicamp before signing with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent on May 16, 2023. Vincent made four tackles (3 solo, 1 assist) in three preseason games for the Rams in 2023 before he was released on August 28, 2023.
Then, Vincent signed with the Houston Roughnecks (XFL) on December 12, 2023, but the Roughnecks were not included in the XFL and USFL merger forming the United Football League (UFL). However, the Roughnecks name was transferred to the Houston Gamblers.
Collegiately, Vincent played five seasons at Ohio State (2018-22) making 57 tackles (23 solo, 34 assists), eight tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery in 40 games for the Buckeyes. He was an All-Big 10 Honorable Mention in 2021 after finishing the season with 22 tackles (12 solo, 10 assists) and three tackles for loss.
Toby Ndukwe is six foot one and weighs 236 pounds. The 25-year-old from Richmond, Texas, signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He played three preseason games with five tackles (5 solo) and one sack for the Steelers.
The Calgary Stampeders signed Ndukwe on September 26, 2023, and was placed on the practice squad. He played in one game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers making one tackle and one tackle on special teams.
In the 2024 preseason, Ndukwe made one tackle and two tackles on special teams in two games earning himself a spot on the practice squad. The Stampeders released him on June 25, 2024.
Collegiately, Ndukwe played four seasons at Southern Methodist University (2018-21) with 26 tackles (12 solo, 14 assists), six tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery in 43 games for the Mustangs.
Then, he transferred to Sam Houston State in 2022 with 28 tackles (16 solo, 12 assists), nine tackles for loss, half a sack, one interception for nine yards, and three pass breakups in eight games for the Bearkats.
Jordan Williams is six foot and weighs 223 pounds. The 27-year-old from Paris, Texas, made 61 tackles (34 solo, 27 assists), 5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery in 10 games for the San Antonio Brahmas in 2024.
Williams signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent on April 27, 2020. The Falcons released him on August 2, 2024. Next, Williams signed with the B.C. Lions December 16, 2020. The Lions released him on July 26, 2021.
Williams was drafted by the San Antonio Brahmas in the 16th round (89th pick) of the 2023 XFL Supplemental Draft. In 2023, Williams made 89 tackles (38 solo, 51 assists), 12 tackles for loss, one pass breakup, one interception for 34 yards, and four quarterback hits in 10 games. He was named to the All-XFL Team in 2023.
Collegiately, Williams played four seasons at Baylor (2016-19) making 208 tackles (119 solo, 89 assists), 19.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, 3 interceptions for 21 yards, 14 pass breakups, 4 forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 52 games for the Bears.
Zach McCloud is six foot two and weighs 235 pounds. The 26-year-old from Lantana, Florida, signed with the San Antonio Brahmas on January 19, 2024. He made four tackles (3 solo, 1 assist) and two sacks in two games before he was placed on injured reserve and missed the rest of the 2024 season.
McCloud signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2022. He also had stints with the Denver Broncos, Tennessee Titans, Arizona Cardinals, and Indianapolis Colts.
Collegiately, McCloud played six seasons at Miami (FL) (2016-21) with 193 tackles (101 solo, 92 assists), 22.5 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, three forced fumbles, and four pass breakups in 64 games for the Hurricanes.
