The Memphis Showboats re-signed quarterback Troy Williams, running back Titus Swen, wide receiver Dee Anderson, tight end Jay Jay Wilson, offensive linemen Darrin Paulo and Jordan McCray, linebacker Tyshun Render, and defensive backs Jarey Elder and Kyree Woods on Tuesday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Troy Williams is six foot two and weighs 208 pounds. The 29-year-old from Carson, California, signed with the Memphis Showboats on January 29, 2024. In 2024, Williams completed 58 of 106 passes (54.7%) for 591 yards, 5 touchdowns, 5 interceptions, 12 carries for 74 yards, and one touchdown in 8 games.
Williams attended the Los Angeles Chargers and Seattle Seahawks rookie minicamp in 2018. Then, he signed with the Edmonton Eskimos on June 2, 2019. He played two seasons in Edmonton completing 1 of 3 passes (33%) for 15 yards, and one interception in 3 games. Next, he signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on May 10, 2022, but was released on June 3, 2022.
Williams signed with the Pittsburgh Maulers on September 26, 2022. In 2023, Williams completed 144 of 221 passes (65.2%) for 1,414 yards, 6 touchdowns, 3 interceptions, 60 carries for 341 yards, and 3 touchdowns in 10 games. In the USFL Playoffs, Williams completed 47 of 77 passes (38.5%) for 346 yards, 1 touchdown, and 10 carries for 74 yards leading the Maulers to appear in the USFL Championship Game against the Birmingham Stallions.
Collegiately, Williams played one season at Washington in 2014 completing 23 of 36 passes (64%) for 176 yards, 2 interceptions, 16 carries for 25 yards, and one touchdown in 4 games for the Huskies. Next, he transferred to Santa Monica College in 2015 and completed 180 of 265 passes (67.9%) for 2,750 yards, 31 touchdowns, 4 interceptions, 45 carries for 139 yards, and 7 touchdowns in 10 games for the Corsair.
Then, Williams transferred to Utah (2016-17) completing 267 of 500 passes (53%) for 3,569 yards, 17 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, 151 carries for 310 yards, 9 touchdowns, one catch for five yards, and one touchdown in 21 games for the Utes.
Titus Swen is five foot ten and weighs 204 pounds. The 24-year-old from Fort Worth, Texas, was signed with the Memphis Showboats on March 2, 2024. In 2024, Swen had 26 carries for 75 yards, and 13 catches for 69 yards in 10 games.
Swen signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2023, but was released three days later. He was drafted by the Seattle Sea Dragons (XFL) in the 2023 XFL Rookie Draft and had signed a letter of intent to play in Seattle. However, the Sea Dragons were not included in the XFL and USFL merger which formed the United Football League (UFL).
Collegiately, Swen played four seasons at Wyoming (2019-22) with 406 carries for 2,161 yards, 16 touchdowns, 22 catches for 178 yards, and 10 kick returns for 186 yards in 33 games for the Cowboys. He was named Second Team All-Mountain West Conference by Pro Football Focus in 2021. In 2022, Swen had 207 carries for 1,039 yards, eight touchdowns, and 14 catches for 108 yards in 12 games.
Dee Anderson is six foot six and weighs 225 pounds. The 26-year-old from Dallas, Texas, was drafted by the Memphis Showboats in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft. In 2024, Anderson made 8 catches for 142 yards and one touchdown in 6 games.
Anderson attended the New Orleans Saints rookie minicamp in 2022. Next, Anderson signed with the Tampa Bay Bandits (USFL) making one catch and one tackle (1 solo) in one game. Then, Anderson signed with the New Orleans Breakers on March 15, 2023. In 2023, Anderson made 13 catches for 174 yards, 2 touchdowns, and one tackle (1 solo) in 7 games.
Collegiately, Anderson played three seasons at LSU (2016-18) making 27 catches for 392 yards, one touchdown, and one tackle (1 solo) in 31 games for the Tigers. Jay Jay Wilson is six foot two and weighs 240 pounds. The 27-year-old from Valencia, California, made 3 catches for 30 yards in 10 games for the Memphis Showboats in 2024.
Wilson went undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft. He signed with the Duke City Gladiators (IFL) in 2022. Then, he signed with the Memphis Showboats on December 8, 2022. In 2023, Wilson made 16 catches for 170 yards and one touchdown in 9 games.
Collegiately, Wilson played four seasons at Arizona State (2015-18) as a linebacker and tight end making 5 catches for 97 yards, 3 touchdowns, 1 carry for 1 yard, 2 kick returns for 14 yards, 62 tackles (38 solo, 24 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, one interception for 20 yards, one touchdown, 4 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery in 37 games for the Sun Devils. Then, Wilson transferred to Auburn in 2019 making 14 catches for 133 yards, and one touchdown in 12 games for the Tigers.
Darrin Paulo is six foot five and weighs 320 pounds. The 26-year-old from Sacramento, California, re-signed with the Memphis Showboats on November 9, 2023. In 2024, Paulo started 10 games. In 2024, Memphis’s offense ranked last in total offense (2,303), rushing yards (650), passing yards (1,653), yards per game (230.3), and seventh in touchdowns (21).
The New Orleans Saints signed Paulo as an undrafted free agent in 2020. Paulo had stints with the Denver Broncos and Detroit Lions. The Tampa Bay Bandits signed Paulo on June 10, 2022, and was placed on the practice squad. He played one game for the Bandits in 2022 before returning to Detroit on July 29, 2022, and spent the season on the practice squad. He played three preseason games for the Detroit Lions in 2023. He was released on August 27, 2023.
Collegiately, Paulo played four seasons at Utah (2016-19) playing both tackle positions in 53 games for the Utes. In 2019, he was named First Team All-Pac 12 after helping Utah finish the season ranked No. 1 in the Pac-12 in rushing offense (204.1).
Jordan McCray is six foot three and weighs 280 pounds. The 32-year-old from Miami, Florida, played 8 games for the Memphis Showboats in 2024. In 2024, Memphis’s offense ranked last in total offense (2,303), rushing yards (650), passing yards (1,653), yards per game (230.3), and seventh in touchdowns (21).
McCray went undrafted in the 2014 NFL Draft. He spent time with the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Carolina Panthers. Orlando Predators, Cleveland Gladiators, Baltimore Brigade, Chicago Bears, Orlando Apollos, Tampa Bay Vipers, Massachusetts Pirates, Birmingham Stallions, and San Antonio Brahmas.
McCray signed with the Memphis Showboats on April 19, 2023. McCray started 8 games in 2023. Memphis was ranked sixth in passing yards per game (172.4), sixth in passing touchdowns (10), sixth in rushing yards per game (85.9), and seventh in rushing touchdowns (4).
Collegiately, McCray played four seasons at the University of Central Florida (2010-13) playing 44 games for the Knights. He was named First Team All-AAC, All-C-USA Honorable Mention, and the Conference USA All-Freshman Team.
Tyshun Render is six foot three and weighs 255 pounds. The 27-year-old from Newnan, Georgia, was drafted by the Memphis Showboats in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft. In 2024, Render made 22 tackles (11 solo, 11 assists), 2 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble in 10 games.
Render signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He spent two seasons with Miami playing one regular season game.
The New Jersey Generals drafted Render in the first round (285th pick) of the 2022 USFL Supplemental Draft. Render made 28 tackles (12 solo, 16 assists), three tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and three pass breakups in ten games for the Generals in 2022. In the playoffs, he made four tackles (3 solo, 1 assist). In 2023, Render made 14 tackles (8 solo, 6 assists), four tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and two pass breakups in six games.
Collegiately, Render played four seasons at Middle Tennessee State (2016-19) with 119 tackles (71 solo, 48 assists), 19.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, one interception, eight pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in 51 games for the Blue Raiders.
Jarey Elder is five foot eleven and weighs 195 pounds. The 27-year-old from Allentown, Pennsylvania, was drafted by the Memphis Showboats in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft. In 2024, Elder made 38 tackles (33 solo, 5 assists), 3 tackles for loss, and 2 pass breakups in 9 games.
Elder played the Blues (TSL) and the Milano Seamen of the Italian Football League in 2021. The New Orleans Breakers drafted Elder in the eighth round (343rd pick) of the 2022 USFL Supplemental Draft. Elder made 44 tackles (23 solo, 21 assists), one fumble recovery, and two pass breakups in ten games for the Breakers in 2022.
In 2023, Elder made 49 tackles (33 solo, 16 assists), one tackle for loss, one sack, two interceptions for 27 yards, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and six pass breakups in ten games.
Collegiately, Elder played four seasons at West Chester University (2016-19) with 187 tackles (117 solo, 70 assists), 12 tackles for loss, half a sack, 14 interceptions for 172 yards, one touchdown, 31 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, two kick returns for 34 yards, and 54 punt returns for 380 yards in 47 games for the Golden Rams. He was named First Team All-ECAC in 2017 and an All-American.
Kyree Woods is six foot and weighs 190 pounds. The 26-year-old from Mesa, Arizona, made 41 tackles (32 solo, 9 assists), 3 tackles for loss, 2 pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 10 games for the Memphis Showboats in 2024.
Woods played for the Arizona Rattlers (IFL) in 2022 making 58 tackles (47 solo, 22 assists), 4 tackles for loss, 9 interceptions for 29 yards, 1 touchdown, 26 pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles, and one touchdown in 15 games.
Then, Woods signed with the Memphis Showboats on October 13, 2022, when they were still known as the Tampa Bay Bandits. In 2023, Woods made 18 tackles (14 solo, 4 assists), 1 tackle for loss, 2 interceptions for 36 yards, and two pass breakups in 6 games. After the season, he worked out for the Arizona Cardinals.
