The Montreal Alouettes and offensive lineman Nick Callender agreed to a two-year contract extension through the 2026 season on Friday.

Nick Callender is six foot six and weighs 321 pounds. The 30-year-old from Berkeley, California, has started 11 games at left tackle this season protecting Cody Fajardo and Davis Alexander. This season, the Alouettes’ offense is ranked second in average points (27.3), offensive touchdowns (32), average net offense (363.5), average passing yards (295.5), tied fourth in sacks allowed (22), and eighth in average rushing yards (80.9).

Callender signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent on May 7, 2018. He also played for the Indianapolis Colts, Salt Lake Stallions (AAF), and the Houston Roughnecks (XFL).

The Montreal Alouettes signed Callender on June 30, 2021. He has started 46 of 49 games. In 2023, Montreal’s offense finished seventh in offensive points per game (20.6), fourth in touchdowns (43), sixth in average net offensive yards (329.7), fifth in average rushing yards (102.2), sixth in average passing yards (250.0), and eighth in sacks allowed (61) on their way to winning the 110th Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Callender was named a CFL East All-Star.

Collegiately, Callender played five seasons at Colorado State (2012-16), playing left tackle in 35 games for the Rams. In 2016, Colorado State’s offense allowed one sack per game ranking eighth in the country. They also ranked 12th in the country in passing efficiency, 31st in rushing offense, 28th in scoring offense, and 30th in total offense. He was named an honorable mention All-Mountain West in 2016.
