Ottawa Redblacks place two wide receivers on the six-game injured list

The Ottawa Redblacks placed wide receiver Jaelon Acklin (Head) and Bralon Addison (Hand) on the six-game injured list on Friday.

Jaelen Ackin is six foot two and weighs 190 pounds. The 29-year-old from Mountain View, Missouri, made 45 catches for 484 yards, and 3 touchdowns in 10 games this season. Last week against the B.C. Lions, Acklin made 3 catches for 43 yards and 1 touchdown before getting injured in the fourth quarter. He was taken off the field by an ambulance where he was treated and released.

Ackin signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent on May 4, 2018. He suffered an injury during training camp and was released. Then, Ackin signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on March 13, 2019.

In his rookie season, Ackin made 58 catches for 708 yards and three touchdowns in 17 games. In 2021, Ackin made 50 catches for 678 yards, four touchdowns, and one carry for five yards in 14 games on his way to being named a CFL East All-Star for the first time.

After Hamilton, Acklin signed with the Ottawa Redblacks on February 9, 2022. In 2022, Acklin made 75 catches for 1,169 yards, and two touchdowns in 15 games. He is a two-time CFL East All-Star (2021-22). In 2023, Acklin made 67 catches for 892 yards, one touchdown, and one kick return for no yards in 18 games.

Collegiately, Ackin played four seasons at Western Illinois (2014-17) with 105 catches for 1,733 yards, 12 touchdowns, 21 carries for 255 yards, four touchdowns, three kick returns for 25 yards, and four punt returns for four yards in 44 games for the Leathernecks.

Bralon Addison is five foot nine and weighs 197 pounds. The 30-year-old from Missouri City, Texas, made 27 catches for 315 yards, and 17 carries for 105 yards in 8 games this season.

Addison signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2016. He later signed with the Chicago Bears and Toronto Argonauts. On September 1, 2018, Addison signed with the Ticats.

In 2022, Addison caught 43 passes for 433 yards, 12 carries for 67 yards, and three punt returns for 32 yards in eight games for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He played four seasons in two stints in Hamilton (2018-19, 2021-22) with 164 catches for 2,013 yards, eight touchdowns, 53 carries for 298 yards, one touchdown, 24 punt returns for 195 yards, and five kick returns for 80 yards in 31 games. Addison was named a CFL East All-Star and All-Star in 2019.

The Ottawa Redblacks signed Addison on May 13, 2023. In 2023, Addison made 26 catches for 272 yards and two touchdowns in eight games.

Collegiately, Addison played three seasons at Oregon (2012-13, 2015) with 146 catches for 1,937 yards, 20 touchdowns, 21 carries for 103 yards, two touchdowns, 11 kick returns for 217 yards, 36 punt returns for 451 yards, and three touchdowns in 39 games for the Ducks. He missed the 2014 season due to injury and earned Second Team All-Pac 12 in 2015.
