The Montreal Alouettes released defensive back David Vereen from the practice squad on Saturday according to the CFL Transactions page.
David Vereen is five foot eleven and weighs 175 pounds. The 26-year-old from Florence, South Carolina, signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He played three preseason games for the Ravens with five tackles (4 solo, 1 assist). The Ravens released him after training camp.
In 2023, he signed with the Indianapolis Colts but was released on May 2, 2023. Next, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed Vereen on September 14, 2023. He played one game for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2023 with four tackles against the Montreal Alouettes. The Ticats released Vereen on November 5, 2023.
On November 10, 2023, Vereen signed with the Philadelphia Stars (USFL) before the USFL and XFL merged to form the United Football League (UFL). The Stars were not included in the merger. Then, Vereen returned to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on January 26, 2024.
He played in one preseason game against the Montreal Alouettes making four tackles before he was released again on June 1, 2024. The Montreal Alouettes signed Vereen on July 2, 2024. He appeared in two games for the Alouettes in 2024 recording no stats.
Collegiately, Vereen played four seasons at Newberry College (2017-21) with 112 tackles (69 solo, 43 assists), 5.5 tackles for loss, five interceptions for 64 yards, one touchdown, and 40 pass breakups in 38 games for the Wolves. He was named Second Team All-SAC in 2018.
